TheRealOC
I'm living in Ireland, which is in the PAL region and (like the UK), our standard electricity supply is 230 volt AC. We also use the UK-style "Type G" plugs for our electrical appliances. I'm considering importing an NTSC model of the Atari 5200. Would appreciate if anyone could tell me what the power requirements are for this model of the console? Are they the same are the power requirements for the UK/PAL models? Would my best option to get this thing up and running be to plug the original U.S. power adaptor into a step-down converter/transformer, or are there any modern replacement power supply units that would allow me to plug it directly into an Irish/UK wall outlet? I don't anything about powering up this console, except to avoid the version that uses the combined AV/power cable... Thanks!

Probably a bit late to reply, but if you're using an original 5200 power supply (in the UK or Ireland), then I'd recommend getting a good-quality transformer. https://cpc.farnell.com/phonapart/sc5474w-bp/50va-usa-to-uk-voltage-converter/dp/TF00693 Or if you want to go the modern route, then this one will do just fine. https://cpc.farnell.com/pro-elec/pell0031/9v-2a-uk-plug-2-5mm/dp/PW04606 Regards.
Satoshi Matrix
the power requirements of the 5200 are 9.3v DC at 1.95 Amps center pin positive. This is overkill; 9v 1 Amp is just fine. The thing you need to pay attention to is finding a jack that will fit and provide the correct polarity. The 5200 isn't like the 7800 which needs its own unique power supply.
