moonlight_mile
Ah. I just broke down and bought a syschek. Being that I read that the xe board’s traces come up pretty easily I don’t really want to stress the board out anymore than necessary. Thanks for all the suggestions. There isn’t an easy way to determine what ram chip(s) may be bad is there? I know there is that diagnostic hardware available but I really hate to kick in the money for something there is a good chance I will only ever use once. The SYSCHECK 2.2 mentioned isn't just a diagnostic device, it also includes a RAMBO type 512kB external RAM upgrade and the choice of 4 OS's that are flashable. That is great news. I got a uav this week so going to try my hand at putting that in my 800xl. I am trying to get a readable dt-80 column display on my tv. I know it won’t be perfect but just hoping it will clean it up just enough that I can use it when I boot into cp/m.

A couple things you can do to help. Either turn the colour all the way down, or depending on your cable, only run the luma signal.
