classicgamesnut
I do believe that's it, and the write-up about its short shelf life explains why I saw it on that one occasion at Federated and then never again. Thanks, glad to learn I didn't just imagine the whole thing.
BIGHMW
I was born in Panorama City (in 1966, California born and raised) and lived in Northridge and Sepulveda (now North Hills) until moving to Port Townsend, WA in 1987 and I LOVED those vintage Federated commercials growing up BITD, I got SO wound up during most of those brilliant ads (almost to the point of wanting to smash up a old or cheap TV or VCR just like Fred Rated did) and the way Shadoe Stevens always performed in them, and that was his way that eventually got him the announcer job for both the John Davidson (1984-88) and Tom Bergeron (1998-2002) hosted runs of The Hollywood Squares, and for a while, after Casey Kasem retired, he became the new host of the famous American Top 40 radio show on Sunday mornings/afternoons, anyone remember that era??? C'mon all you native Californians!!! Oh, and BTW, for all of you in the Tri-State (NY/NJ/CT) area I DO ALSO remember Crazy Eddie and those brilliant commercials for both him and that franchise that used to run on WOR (now WWOR, New York/Secaucus, NJ) on cable that I watched down in LA on the old Valley Cable TV BITD (as if cable was THE SHIT as opposed ot the corporate-controlled ripoff it has become now). Crazy Eddie used to end all of their commercials with the same tagline, "Come to Crazy Eddie... his prices are IN-SANE!!!" Too bad both he and that franchise are now out of business too, but for a much different (and less desirable) reason than what happened to Federated.
