Best Single and Local Multiplayer Acrade style racer?

I'm looking for an easy arcade style racing game without all the Gran Turismo tuning and realism. Something that I can pick up and play, then walk away for weeks on end. Single player mostly, I won't be playing online, but I would like to be able to play local split screen occasionally. I was shopping Blur and Split Second, less so Mod Nation Racers (I have a WiiU  for Mario Kart if I want that style.) I'm old school and not that into the actual "real" cars, but if they are part of the game I'm not against it. Just want arcade style fun, if that exists on the PS3.

Have you tried 'Burnout Paradise'?

I have had it for the PC for quite a few years now, and bought a copy to play on the PS3 a few months back as well. I am not much for playing racing games, but I do find it to be quite a lot of fun to play and easy to get into playing. It also avoids a lot of the tune up/micro-management the more in-depth racing games usually require.

*edit* There is no split screen mode however. So you would be stuck with single player mode only.

Motorstorm 2 and MS Apocalypse.

I couldn't score Blur on the cheap, but I was able to get a complete clean Split Second off Ebay. Split Second is awesome! Highly recommended! For reference, I tend to play mostly Enduro, Outrun 2006, Pole Position, and the occasional Ridge Racer.
