Sanriostar
I know we've got some big Futurama fans in AA along with me, and I'm trying to place the B/G sound that was used for Hypno Toad... ...sorry, the red light just turned off. Anyway, The B/G sound was from a 2600 game I'm certain, and I'm trying to place it. I know that it's not Yar's, cause the 'buzz' in Yar's is too soft for Toad. Any ideas? liquid_sky
i cant place it either, does anyone have a sound clip?
Sanriostar
I've done some sifting of ROMs in Z26, and I think I found it: Play Rampage, and listen to the blimp sound as your character comes in. It's close, but I may be wrong.
joeybastard
It kind of sounds like the noise when you pick up a crystal in CV Destructor.
Sanriostar
A sound has been requested, and so here it is! Thanks to my Roomie who can transfer nearly anything! htoad.zip
Tempest
I don't think it's from a video game, it's just a sound they made up. Tempest
norkusa
I always wanted to know what sound that was since I first heard it. Don't think it's from an old game. Too deep sounding. I thought it came from some heavily filtered, bad-ass analog synthesizer like a Moog or Arp.
rasty
If it has to be related to some 2600 game's sfx, that could be Jedi Arena...! ... or not? Regards, Rasty.-
SteveW
I really don't think the sound is from a 2600. It might be some kind of stock sound effect they altered to sound more freaky. The writers of Futurama are classic game fans, especially with the episode "Tales of Interest II" where Fry asks the 'What If' Machine what the world would be like if life were more like video games. I love one of his quotes: "It's Saturday night. I have no date, a 2 liter of Shasta, and my all-Rush mix tape. Let's rock!" Anyone notice when he was x-rayed that Bender's brain runs on a 6502? MegaManFan
Since it seems on topic in this thread, I'll ask here too (I also posted this question in The Final Futurama in Off-Topic): what video game or port of a video game do they borrow the "da da duh-duh-duh da da duh-duh-duh" sound from in "A Byclops of My Own" when Leela and Fry are playing the "video game" online? It sounds +so+ damn familiar.
