Hyperkin Ranger compatible with the 7800?

Are there known issues with ranger and the 7800? The controller works fine on my Retron 77 but suddenly stopped working properly on both of my 7800s. In stick mode, I cannot move right or straight down. I always make sure that I set the mode on the controller before I turn on the machine

Should work. Works in both of these on 7800 later is the videos. Can't speak to what is wrong, except try to make sure it is all the way switched stick mode and plugged in all the way. Also try a 7800 controller to make sure there is not damage to the 7800 controller port. Finally, if you have a Seagull 78, you can try using stick mode through that to see if there is something wishy-washy about the plug connection directly to your 7800 as it should still work for stick mode, but not paddle:

Definitely not either of my 7800's controller ports. Neither have issues with a proline, genesis controller, modded nes controller or even hyperkin's trooper. My guess is this is a case of Hyperkin's world class quality control rearing it's ugly  head again.
