The Beamriders took a 2-0 lead into the 4th inning, then the Smash tied it 2-2.

The Beamriders scored two more in the 6th.

The Smash almost tied it again in the 9th but fell short 4-3.

Fourth win in a row for the Beamriders, fourth loss in a row for the Smash.

Beamriders are a half game out of first place!

Actually Armada is 6-2 as of today.  Yes both are still division leaders.  The website intysports.win is updated a few minutes after every game.

The Deadly Dogs crush a home run in the 5th and hold on to beat the Bombers 1-0! Them and the Bombers are tied for 2nd place in the Battle Network, 1.5GB.

Armada can clinch the Battle Network with a win Thursday.

The Ghosts got a WALK OFF HOME RUN in the 10th and win 4-1!

The Action Network just got a lot more interesting heading into the final week!
The Upmonsters and Beamriders are now tied for first, with the rest of the division tied for 2nd all 1 game back!

This has been the best Action Network in league history.

And it appears both divisions are still up for grabs, because if the Upmonsters win they tie for first in their division, and the other division could potentially end up in a 2 or 3 way tie.

Depending on if the 3 top teams play each other in the final game or not.

Yes, 10 game season.

Armada led the Smash 4-3 after the 3rd inning!  Both teams shot each other down the rest of the game.  The Armada hold on to win! First division title since 2016! They play either the Beamriders or Upmonsters in the league championship series Monday.

Is it single game match for the Championship or is it a series for the Championship?

Live from the Armada Dome, it's the 2021 Intellivision Baseball League Championship Series between the Upmonsters and the Armada!

This is the Armada's second time to the championship series, their first since 2016.  Since then, they've had some mediocre seasons, but have battled back this year hoping for their first league championship.  They had a slow start to the season, but then went on to win their six out of their final seven games, scoring a whopping 17 runs in those wins.  Their defense has been great, and they only have one loss at home this season.

For the Upmonsters franchise, it's been a very tough road.  Starting off as the Snakes, they had little success.  Then in 2019 they became the Upmonsters with a new offensive focus, and it has finally paid off with their first division title in team history. Their season wasn't great, but it was just good enough to win the Action Network.  Their defense has also been good, and they have been perfect at games at home, a first in league history.  This series is not in their favor though, they only have one road win.

Unbelievable day!  The Armada had a 6 RUN 3rd inning including a grand slam!  That has to be a record for most runs in an inning.  Unfortunately, the game crashed in the 7th.  In a normal game I'd call that a win, but since this is the championship series, I had to start over.

So in the make up game, the Armada promptly have a 4 RUN FIRST INNING!  They go on to take game one 5-2!

Game two will be tomorrow with the Upmonsters at home.

The six run inning is also on YouTube.

Season 8 has been great!  Let's break it down:

Upmonsters
They were just a little better than average this year, however they scored enough runs to make them Action Network champions for the first time in their history.  Their record is a slight improvement over the past few years, and their appearance in the championship game has given them the confidence to keep improving.  The highlight of the regular season was their perfect 5-0 home record, the first in league history.  Offense and defense were some of the best in the league.

Beamriders
The 2020 league champions had a dismal start to the season, going 1-4 and being shut out three times.  However, after mid-season they battled back like they always do, ending the season on a five game win streak and limiting their opponents to one run or less in four of those games.  Unfortunately, the streak was not enough to win them another division title, and they lost out on a tiebreaker.

Smash
Their first half was great with four wins and 15 runs.  Their second half was a disaster, ending the season on a five game losing streak and giving up 20 runs during that stretch.  Offense held up but pitching and defense completely fell apart.  Their offense ended up the second best in the league while their pitching/defense was one of the worst.  They're now the only team in the league that has not won a division title.

Ghosts
They had a bad start to the season, but had a decent second half.  Except for a few big games, their offense scored only one run or less.  Pitching and defense had a rough start but got better in the second half, allowing 1-2 runs in most games.

Mutants
They started the season 4-2, then could barely do anything right in their last four games, being outscored 9-2 during that stretch.  Even with that bad run, their defense still ranked one of the best in the league.

Armada
They had a slow start until week 5, where they became dominant offensively: 16 runs in five of their last six games, and eight runs in the two-game championship series.  Their pitching and defense was inconsistent, they had a few shutouts but also gave up at least three runs in other games.  They peaked at the right time, ending the season on a 6-1 run and destroying the Upmonsters in the league championship series for their first league title.

Bombers
They had the highest scoring offense in the league, but it wasn't enough to get past the streaking Armada.  Their biggest problem was giving up too many runs early in the season.  This is their third recent season ending with a 6-4 record.  If they can somehow find a way to get one more win, they could return to the championship series.

Spartans
They had the best pitching and defense in the league this year, but overall didn't have the firepower to back it up.  Only being shutout once this season is still pretty good.  They've just been an average team ever since their division title in 2014.

Deadly Dogs
They were off to a red-hot start, going 3-1 and scoring 12 runs, then they went ice cold and lost four of their final six games.  Pitching and defense were one of the best in the league, but that doesn't help when you stop scoring runs consistently.

River Raiders
They struggled all season, being shut out five times and having one of the worst pitching and defenses of the league.   It's a whole different team from their championship seasons 2-3 years ago.
