Spoodleallday
Is there any known way to make the paddle on the Hyperkin Ranger Controller LESS sensitive? I love this controller for standard joystick use, but when it comes to the paddles THEY'RE WAY TOO SENSITIVE! Is there any mod I can do to change this? I would like it to act more so like the original paddles. For example I'm able to completely max out my score on kaboom with standard paddles, but with the Ranger I can't even get past 5,000 points..... I cannot find a single bit of information online about modding/changing the paddles on these controllers so any information would be great! Thank you!!! WakeyTiger
Hi, I had a cursory glance for the same thing, but I suspect the circuitry inside these things is way smaller than the old resistors etc that could be easily amended. love mine too - but yeah that paddle is wayyyy to twitchy! ave1
The Hyperkin Ranger paddle mod that I did at the 40 minute point in this video makes controlling the paddle games considerably better. Try it.

That would depend on the circuit used, if it follows the original Atari design then it should operate exactly the same unless... a) They used different resistor values, in which case replacing them with the same values as the original Atari Paddles should help or b) The diameter of the knob is different so the corresponding amount of change in resistance per degree of knob turn is different, in which case doing something similar to ave1 to recreate the original knob diameter may bring the response closer to that of the Atari paddles, assuming resistance and degrees of turn on the pots are the same as the Atari paddles. If it uses some kind of optical interrupter as would more commonly be found on a trackball or ball mouse is used then if the number of holes on the wheel is even the simplest thing to try would be to block every other hole which should half the response, but that might be too much of a reduction.
