Zak
Hi! I am repairing a COLECO GEMINI and apparently the E4002 chip (TIA clone) is damaged. I think about the possibility of replacing it with an ATARI TIA remapping the legs, the problem is that I cannot clearly find how I would have to redirect the legs. I found the pinout of each chip but they are named differently. maybe you know about the subject and can help me to achieve a comparison of pins E4002 GEMINI / TIA Atari e4002 pinout: https://console5.com/wiki/E4002 TIA pinout: https://console5.com/wiki/TIA E4002 GEMINI : TIA Atari pin 1 : 1 (GND) pin 2 : ?????? pin 3 : 3 (RDY) pin 4 : 2 (SYNC) ?? pin 5 : ????? pin 6 : ????? pin 7 : ????? pin 8 : ????? pin 9 : ????? pin 10 : 10 (Color Adjust) pin 11 : 11 (OSC input) pin 12 : 14 (DB0) pin 13 : 15 (DB1) pin 14 : 16 (DB2) pin 15 : 17 (DB3) pin 16 : 18 (DB4) pin 17 : 19 (DB5) pin 18 : 33 (DB6) pin 19 : 34 (DB7) pin 20 : 20 (Vcc) pin 21 : 24 (CS0) pin 22 : 23 (CS1) pin 23 : 22 (CS2) pin 24 : 21 (CS3) pin 25 : 25 (R/W) pin 26 : 26 (Φ2) pin 27 : 13 (Sound B) pin 28 : 12 (Sound A) pin 29 : 27 (A5) pin 30 : 28 (A4) pin 31 : 29 (A3) pin 32 : 30 (A2) pin 33 : 31 (A1) pin 34 : 32 (A0) pin 35 : 35 (Trigger 1) pin 36 : 36 (Trigger 0) pin 37 : 37 (Pot 3) pin 38 : 38 (Pot 2) pin 39 : 39 (Pot 1) pin 40 : 40 (Pot 0) thank you very much for the help cc @ChildOfCv

Zak
Thank you very much @alex_79, in these days I will be testing the adaptation. I already have a replacement TIA.
+ArcadeJunkie
i believe you may be able to harvest a replacement one from a coleco expansion module 1. That is how I repaired mine.
Zak
Thanks @ArcadeJunkie. Here in Argentina is more dificult to get an Expansion Module #1 than another Gemini. But, it's not a bad idea to keep in mind that you can get a replacement from there.

Hi, Did you complete the repair? Did you replace the E4002 GEMINI with a TIA Atari?

No. I finally found the fault on the motherboard, it was a bad diode causing the black screen. It will be pending to test if the E4002 can really be replaced by a TIA
pcrock
A friend os mine, here in Brazil, made a small PC board adapter to use an ATARI TIA 6526N to replace Gemini E4002 IC. It Works perfect!

pcrock
As I said, that was done by a friend of mine. I asked for the PCB files and if I get them I will share here for sure. Edited December 22, 2022 by pcrock

Costa. That's is an array to became able to use a NTSC ATARI TIA (CO10444D or 6526N or KSC131 and others) to replace the very hard to find Coleco Gemini E4002 TIA. I used the E4002 datasheet pinouts to check several times the schematics made by our friend Marco and compare with CO10444D datasheet. All about circuit looks very good to me. I did not find any error but you must to keep on mind that nothing here were actually tested yet. Special thanks for the friend Marco F. Costa from Brazil by his efforts on drawing the schematics. ApolloBoy
@pcrock do you mind if I post this onto the Consolemods wiki (link in my sig)? This would be great to have for Gemini and EM1 owners with a busted TIA clone.
