+davidcalgary29
Or, more precisely, Ataris. Sharp-eyed chart watchers will note that "cookie-cutter" youth popsters The Ataris have their first top-40 hit this week with a remake of a song that, appropriately enough, was a big hit for Don Henley in the '80s. This week, "Boys of Summer" rises to no. 36 on the big chart, marking the first time that the word Atari has appeared on it. Atari, meanwhile, continues to provide thematic inspiration for such diverse groups as Atari Baby, Splittsville ("Atari 2600"), Reload ("Atari 400") and, of course, Atari Teenage Riot. Nintendo, meanwhile, remains a distant second-place cultural influence in American popular music, with only Nintendo Teenage Robots carrying the flag. And who said the console wars were fought only with the pocketbook?
