asponge
There are two scores displayed on screen for this game. Your "land money" is on the left. This is money collected during the stage. Your total money is displayed in the center. The "land money" collected is added to your total whenever you return to Duckburg. The total money banked is what you should post for the competition. Be aware the total does not stick around long after game over. As always, screenshots are not required, but if you want to get one the best time is between stages after the land money is added to the total. Game Rules: Normal Complete the levels in any order you'd like No Continues Point pressing is allowed 1-Ups may be collected only once If you cannot complete a level, post your best land money score. There's a checkpoint in the Amazon when you reach the pilot duck, "Launchpad", who is standing on a ledge. He'll also optionally take you back to Duckburg so you can bank your cash. If you're unable to bank any of the money to your total then I'll take your best land money score.

Razzie.P
3,804,000 So there I was, just back from my trip to the Moon, trying to bounce through the snow in the Himalaya mountains using my "old man" cane as a pogo stick, struttin' my stuff with $132,000 spare change in my pocket, and I got straight up mugged by a half crazed rabbit and a pissed off goat. True story, folks. You can't make this stuff up.
fakecortex
I love this game, it’s one of my favs on the nes. I actually had a hankering for it in June and beat it, so I was happy to jump back in with more ease than I expected. Next time I play, I need to start with the Himalayas and plan out my route, bc I’m definitely missing stuff. I forgot how to get to the bonus rounds, so those will bump me up, and I missed a hit point somewhere (prob in Himalayas). Just shy of the 10mil special ending, so that’ll be my goal. Duck Tales - $9,741,000 normal
Razzie.P
8,973,000 This was a wee bit more difficult than I remember. Need to focus on a path for more $$$ now.

There's also a third special ending for finishing with zero dollars. I did it on the PS4 Disney collection years ago, but I'm not sure if I used save states there. If it sounds impossible, you're not far off. You have to end up spending money to replenish health. I think it's a fun easter egg to try, and if ya wanna read more (includes ending pics *spoiler warning*) https://www.dkoldies.com/blog/did-you-know-nes-duck-tales-had-3-endings/ To get to the bonus rounds, you need to return to Duckberg via Launchpad with a 7 in the ten thousandths place (like 70,000 or 170,000). My old strategy guide says a "7 as the 5th number from the right" b/c kids don't wanna think about math when they're playing Nintendo! Nice job beating it! This is one of those games you can just keep coming back to, it's great.
fakecortex
Got the 10mil ending! Woohoo ? Going for points really extends the game, considering you end up replaying a bunch of levels. Plus the strategy of squeezing points out wherever you can get them. I know there’s more I’m not getting. I could also probably complete more of a level and backtrack to Launchpad, which I’ll have to try out, tho I hope I can still get the 7 I need for the bonus round. I accomplished my goal, so maybe I’ll try for broke next (literally lol). Duck Tales - $10,909,000 normal And my pic looks wonky bc I recorded the ending on my vcr, and when I didn’t grab a pic in time, I just rolled back the tape to snap one. fakecortex
In my rush to squeeze out every diamond before heading to Launchpad, I forgot about the bonus rounds twice! I don’t know how much more that would’ve gotten me, but I think it would’ve still been under @bubufubu. Did you do a lot of farming to get that score? I was wondering what’s worth more, farming then beating the level, or getting the timer points. Or did you spend lives getting enemy drops? Since point pressing was allowed this round, I’m curious what strategies you used. I spent too long after hitting my 10mil goal trying for the bad ending (got so close) and then when I saw the $13m score posted, I had to give the high score run another shot. Don’t think I’ll have time for another go tonight. Great job!! Duck Tales - $11,620,000

Don’t think I’ll have time for another go tonight. Great job!! Thank you! Sorry for the delayed response. I was busy playing some PS2 games. The bonus scene can net you anywhere from 120,000 to 150,000 points, from what I have seen. I do not have a great deal of experience with playing DuckTales for points. It's been over four years since I last tried. Back then, I managed around 11-12 million. I did some research on Saturday. Throughout the course of my attempts, I discovered a unique area for point pressing. I farmed there for a bit, went to Launchpad, replayed the stage, and farmed that spot one more time. I don't remember how much money it earned me, but it was considerable. My score could have been even higher had I sacrificed lives on that stage. I'm fairly sure I made it to Gyro (bonus stage) on each of the four opportunities. Some enemies randomly drop a Large Diamond (10,000 points). I definitely took advantage of that for those times I was going to play the bonus stage. I also killed off some of my extra lives in order to beat the boss with more time left on the clock. There is a trick (i.e. glitch) to get an extra $325,000 at the end of the first five stages. After defeating the boss, collect the treasure with no time left on the clock before you die. I did not use this glitch during my run. I made some attempts earlier in the day but the timing is pretty tight.

Ooh, nice strategy! Such a great game, and I'm still learning more about it after all these years. I looked up the maps yesterday to make sure I wasn't missing anything, and I learned of a hidden area in the Himalayas that I never knew about! It has an extra life and you have to do a jump cane swing to get more diamonds (which I never knew was a thing, and hard to pull off!).

fakecortex
Oh no, Uncle Scrooge! I don't think that was the goal here!...But it was mine! Duck Tales - $0 After a few failed attempts by avoiding all diamonds and waiting for the clock to tick down after the bosses (which feels like forever), I decided to avoid most diamonds and then do some calculations with the timer bonus in order to finish with exactly $6mil in order to spend it away on the last level. Feel pretty accomplished
