Rybags Posted October 1, 2021 Share Posted October 1, 2021 I don't think that a partial insert is a good idea and I doubt having some lines disconnected would be helpful in any way. The reliance is on the RD4/RD5 lines which provide a sense if the lower/upper Rom portions are present but are also required so that the memory selection knows whether to do Ras/Cas for Ram or to just attempt a Rom read or write. Regardless of system a cart copier should disable interrupts anyway and wait for the user keypress to copy a cart to Ram (though in theory you could just have it test for insertion itself) All that aside though it's mostly redundant now since practically every legacy cart has been dumped and we have easy modern day ways to copy without using the Atari itself.
