Magnavox Odyssey 2 Compatible Controllers

What controllers are compatible with the Odyssey 2 first revision that had detachable grey joysticks? Would a sega genesis 3 button controller work with this system? I just want to make sure that the Odyssey 2 controller ports aren't wired differently from a standard DE9 port which could cause damage to the system or controller. Thank you!

The Genesis controller is wired differently.  So are the Atari and Colecovision controllers.  I don't know of anything that is wired the same.  I've seen examples online somewhere of how to rewire an Atari joystick for the Odyssey2.

Like Pickaxe mentioned, the wiring on  the O2 joystick port differs from all of the others out there, so you will not find success with an "off the shelf" Atari, Sega, etc. controller. The good news is, you can buy an Atari adapter (I believe someone here on the forums makes them) or you could pick up this awesome gamepad from RetroGameBoyz. I have one and love it!
