Preppie
I want to use my new c64 PSU on my plus/4, does anywhere in the UK sell a cable adaptor like keelog in the US https://www.keelog.com/c64-plus-4-psu-adapter-commodore-64-to-plus-4-power-supply-adapter-cable/
RobertB
Hmm, not in the UK but Ray Carlsen also sells his C64-to-Plus/4 adapter at the same price. Preppie
Thanks, but as you said, not in the uk I had already made one using the square adaptor off the old psu but I couldn't get the 9v for some reason, and as a beginner at electronics I decided to buy one instead. I just tested the c64 psu and that's not giving out 9vac, only the 5v DC, so that'll teach me not to buy cheap from eBay. Looks like i'll have to fix it or buy a new one. BTW: does anyone know if the plus/4 will semi work with just 5v DC like the c64 does?
carlsson
No idea, but given how fragile both the CPU and TED chips are, I wouldn't chance by underpowering it so it might want to draw current from the wrong places.
Preppie
Yeah, I picked up 2 of them and from what I've read I'll be lucky to make 1 working machine - probably better just buying a working model, especially as the psu on one of them had a blown fuse
RobertB
You can go the other way, which is to remove the Plus/4 female connector and replace it with a C64 female connector. I've done this in all my Plus/4's. Then you can use C64 power supplies. Preppie
I've seen this done in a few youtube video, given how difficult it is to find those square adaptors this is probably the best route. Although I'd still like to have a way to test them before my dodgy soldering gets to them

Apologies if you have tried this but I recently got a C64 as well and so checked my PSU before plugging it in and it seems fine voltage wise but I don't leave it connected. Anyway, what I found with mine was I think pin 7 in this diagram had nothing, I only got 9v on pin 6 (plus 2 for ground), maybe as it's AC I don't know but just thought I would mention it https://www.c64-wiki.com/wiki/Power_Supply_Connector
Preppie
I pulled out my old c64c PSU and that tests fine, but impossible to say what it will do when a load gets put on it or how long before it freaks out, but it did let me test my bodge cable. Good news is that the cable works fine for AC but I've wired the DC to pin 4 instead of 5, so out with the soldering iron again.
