Tanooki
So in other words they're the online version of EGM, some of them being worse than the average scum like that troll Quarterman who would use the mists of confusion on a so called rumor mill page to peddle outright lies to get sales. Tempest
I glance at Destructoid now and then. It has some of the same click baity sensationalist headlines but on the whole it's not nearly as bad as Kotaku is.

I don't know what you mean. I remember EGM as a game magazine.

They were the 90s version of 2000s internet clickbait through the use of disinformation, false stories as 'rumor says...', and just trolling. I'm not just saying it as a negative, I mean it, but it worked for them to get a lot of subs. If you weren't a Nintendo fan for instance and more so a fan of NP magazine, then you'd utterly love it given their colorful half truths and falsehoods about things for years. Yet if you were a fan of certain systems over others they were too, it was a masterpiece to read.
+LS650
Quote The Game Boy and the Game Boy Color combined have sold 118.69 million units worldwide making them the third-best-selling system of all time. If the GBC was an uncommon or rare system, I could see the upset - but they are as common as old Coke cans on the side of the highway. IMHO that table is kind of cool looking.
