Activision Label Variation Question

Are there any rarity differences between the 2-color (b&w with maybe one additional color) and 4-color (full color) versions of the standard Activision labels? I've noticed that I have these two versions for Barnstorming.

It seems that the 2-color were for earlier Activision releases. I've not seen this difference in the standard label documented anywhere.

I think he's talking about how certain Activision carts use a reduced number of colors in the screenshot that appears on the main label. Usually the screenshot background is white instead of color. I've noticed it on Grand Prix or Freeway, I can't remember which, I don't collect these variants. AFAIK, these variants are covered in the Giant List of Label Variants in the 2600 archives here on AA.

yes, there is probably a difference in rarity in the different labels. like someone already pointed out, most of the activision variations are listed in the big list of label variations. you can see examples of the 4 color styles in the activision catalogs like:

http://www.atariage.com/catalog_thumbs.htm...tml?CatalogID=5

for example, kaboom and barnstorming screenshots shown in this catalog are just like the screenshots that show up on the 4 color cartridge labels. fishing derby, freeway, grand prix, checkers also had 4 color labels like in this catalog and 2 color older versions.

two different kabooms can be seen at:

http://www.atariguide.com/b0/026.jpg

http://www.atariguide.com/b0/026c2.jpg

the first is listed for $7, the other for $6.30. i don't know if that says much for difference in rarity though. i know i looked on ebay for all the kaboom sales in one month and found about a 5-1-1 ratio between the white pic background, blue pic background and no pic blue/white text versions.
