Rob Merritt
There is now a single board pc running the same cpu/gpu combo as the Atari VCS 800. The Ryzen 1606G with Radeon Vega 3 graphics. It only supports 4 gigs of memory. Oh and it cost over $500. Something to remember when people mention that they think the VCS is overpriced.

A lot of the price complaints were before the chip shortage. It's gotten harder to find a comparable system at a much better price. Also a lot of the criticism compared the bundle price ($399) instead of the standalone price ($299). If the system it was being compared to didn't have a pair of $60 controllers then it wasn't really a fair comparison. At the end you will likely pay more for the Atari name vs a generic system, but that's true of virtually any other product. 3
