Jasoco
Being new to Sega world, having lived under the Nintendo rock for 15+ years, I don't or didn't follow many happenings in the world of Sega. So someone explain to me exactly what Nights is. What system(s) was/were it on? How many games are/were there? Will there be more? And can I go there and count them? Just curious. Everybody RAVES about it, but I never know what they are talking about. *sigh* I missed a lot.
CPUWIZ
Sega Saturn, one game AFAIK.

Trooper
Well there have actually been to Nights allthough Christmas Nights is only some redone levels. So the released games as far as I know are: Nights into dreams Christmas Nights Troop
oesii
I think Nights and the three Panzer Dragoon games are reason enough to find a Saturn and just play Sort of the same when people tell you to buy a Jaguar just to play Tempest 2k and Alien vs. Predator (this is good advice too )
Mendon
For me, the big reason to buy the Saturn was Duke Nukem. I'm still amazed at how close and faithful this was to the PC version. And I fell on the floor laughing at the ending when Duke kept his promise of ripping off the head and......... well, beat the game and you'll know. Lets just say that this game surprised me with how much "adult" fare they would put into a console video game. Nights was really cool but I sucked at it totally. Jasoco
I think Nights and the three Panzer Dragoon games are reason enough to find a Saturn and just play What exactly is the Panzer Dragoon series about anyway? Well, it was, but I didn't laugh like that. Actually, I was more impressed with the real mirrors that I could see myself in. This was before Mario 64. I had never seen a mirror in a game before. I was also impressed by the angled floors and ceilings and the destructable scenery. Having played only DOOM before. Now THAT game impressed me the first time I played it, and Duke totally blew that away. [sarcasm]Gee, I can't WAIT for Duke Nukem Forever!! It looks like it might blow DOOM and Duke 3 away![/sarcasm] I DID laugh the first time I used the bathroom, though. I found it funny you could gain some health by relieving yourself. Defiance131
NiGHTS also made a cameo appearance in the casino level in Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast (there was a pinball level in there). NiGHTS was also part of a quest in Phantasy Star Online. More recently, he/she is in Sonic Pinball Party. It's my favorite game, period. And most of us Sega freaks can't figure out why the hell Sonic Team hasn't done a sequel yet. Would've been perfect for the DC. The GameCube is screaming for one. Most recently, NiGHTS is appearing on my right calf. The Panzer Dragoon games ares story-driven shooters on rails. Panzer Dragoon Zwei is great; Panzer Dragoon Saga is once of the best RPGs I've played. Other reasons to get a Saturn: Dragon Force, Radiant Silvergun. Oh, and it supports S-video too. PaulEMoz
I had a Saturn when I was in England, and NiGHTS was my favourite game, even though I wasn't all that good at it. It's just got such a unique feel and atmosphere, that playing it is a true joy. I'd love to see a remake or sequel, but it's not going to happen. I've just won auctions for a Saturn and a copy of NiGHTS on eBay, I can't wait for them to arrive! Other games I loved: Tomb Raider (came first on the Saturn, blew me away). Guardian Heroes (fantastic game, expensive to buy now) Sega Rally (one of the best, most fun racers ever) Baku Baku Animal (odd, funny, addictive puzzler) Alien Trilogy (graphics weren't great, but what an atmosphere!) Jasoco
I saw the NiGHTS Pinball table in Sonic. That was pretty cool. But I hated how freaking long that one cut scene flying through the weird hill scape took going from the table to the bonus. And you couldn't skip it. I kept hitting it and having to WAIT. I hate WAITING. I'd LOVE a Saturn. I just with there was a good Sonic game on it to make it worth it for me. I'll probably get a Sega CD first before I get a Saturn just for Sonic CD. Too bad there wasn't a good Sonic game on the Saturn. Just Sonic R and that other one.

In case you didnt' notice, that wasn't a cut scene, it is rendered in real time and you can control the camera. I wouldn't expect someone who doesn't know NiGHTs to give a single ounce of poo about that part of SA though.
Rockin' Kat
Too bad there wasn't a good Sonic game on the Saturn. Just Sonic R and that other one. Only two Sonic games for Saturn? Am I confused about some of the games in my wishlist? Oh...and I bought a model 1 Sega CD and a Saturn just a week apart last month. Anyway, it looks like I'm gonna have to add Nights to that list. compacho
I think the reason why Sonic Team hasn't released a Nights sequel is because they're saving it as their "secret weapon" to knock out the competition when they need to. Maybe they'll save it for their return to console making, but thats highly unlikely and far off.

Anyway, it looks like I'm gonna have to add Nights to that list. Sonic the Fighters is arcade only.. no Saturn version. Sonic Xtreme - was never finished, but you can (sort of) preview it on Sonic Jam which has a section called "Sonic World". So the Saturn ended up with: Sonic 3D Blast Sonic R Sonic Jam

liveinabin
Nights was just lovely. Imaging Sonic crossed with Peter Pan and without any of Sonics 'standard platform hero' annoying character traits. I implore you to get a Saturn and play it. If you can find a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga at an acceptable price, get that too. It's a damn shame that game is so expensive, it should be enjoyed by all (maybe you can borrow it). Oh yeah, don't even think about playing Nights without the 3D pad - Sega's analogue controller was practically designed for the game. You can find them boxed together pretty cheaply on eBay. Jasoco
I figured I should make sure to get that controller too. I see a few NiGHT's on eBay with controllers included cheap. Hopefully when the time comes, I'll get lucky. Saturn and Jaguar are on my list of immediate Systems to get ASAP.
liveinabin
Get yourself a copy of Christmas Nights too (it's pretty cheap). It was Sonic Teams christmas card to the Saturn faithful (came free on various magazines around the world). It's level one of Nights but it makes use of the Saturns clock and calendar. Play it anywhere near Christmas time (or change the clock:) ) and the whole thing goes into seasonal overdrive, even giving you 'presents' to unwrap as rewards for good play - these take to form of anything from simple slideshows to songs and extra 2 player mode. It's short but oh-so sweet. All the heart that most people discovered in the Dreamcast was evident right here:)
JankenTheGreat
I love my Saturn. Eaisly the most underrated system of all time.
