GONE: Intel S3420 and S1200 Xeon boards

OLD CS1

Recommended Posts

I have a bunch of Intel S3420 and S1200 main boards with Xeon CPUs and 32GB RAM (maxed out.)  These were used in Hyper-V virtual servers and I have kept them for spares.  I retired the last S3420-based server a few years ago, and these S1200s are too old to replace the newer boards I use.

Are these of any use to anyone here?  I hate to throw them out as they are still functional and operational, but I do not have a place for them in my environment.

@OLD CS1
any news on this? Was thinking about getting a case and power supply ahead of getting this.

Thanks

Hang loose.  I got tied up this past week and have not had a chance to run them up to see what CPUs are on them.  If all goes well, I can do some tomorrow.

Okay, here is my inventory:

  1. S3420GPC    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    16GB
  2. S3420GPX    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    32GB
  3. S3420GPX    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    16GB
  4. S3420GPC    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    32GB
  5. S3420GPX    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    16GB
  6. S3420GPC    Core-i3 530 2.93GHz    8GB
  7. S3420GPC    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    32GB
  8. S3420GPC    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    32GB
  9. S3420GPX    Xeon X3450 2.66GHz    24GB*
  10. S1200RPS    Xeon E3-1231v3 3.40GHz    32GB
  11. S1200BTL    Xeon E3-1220v2 3.10GHz    32GB

* Indicates sporadic RAM detection problems (sometimes does not recognize full amount.)  I have swapped modules to get it to detect the 24GB.

Almost all boards have their ATX plate (first comers will definitely get them.)  All boards have a maximum RAM capacity of 32GB Registered ECC.  A note about age: some of these date back to 2011 so standard caveats apply.  CPU thermal paste may need refreshing, CMOS batteries are good but likely old enough to be replaced, no warranty, likely needs updated firmware, &c.

Some of these boards will accept the Intel AXX4SASMOD ESRT2 SAS/SATA RAID card, of which I have two with the RAID-5 key.  These are $25 each if you need them.

These boards fit tightly in a USPS Priority Medium Flat Rate box, or comfortably in a Large Flat Rate box.  Shipping is to USA and Canadia, only.

What kind of RAM is this, and how's it split up on these boards? I've got a 4th gen HP that can take low watt DDR3 RAM, but it can't use sticks larger than 8GB.

RAM is DDR3 ECC registered.  Matching sticks up to the amount of RAM listed (32GB = 4 x 8, 24GB = 2x8 + 2x4, &c.)

Oh. I see ECC doesn't necessarily work with consumer grade computers. I may have to pass on this, sorry!

I did not make it exceptionally clear, but these are server boards and were used in Hyper-V servers.

I will take #11 if still available. Might be interested in #4 as a backup to a server I built with the last board you sent me :)

Cool.  Glad to hear it is in good use.  I think I fit two boards in a single Flat Rate Large box, about $20 in shipping.  I am sure it is worth it for both of them for you.
