QLvsJAGUAR
Hi folks, I was off-list for many years. And, my ST know-how has so faded after all those years since the mid/late 80s. But as I have an idea, a plan to create an image for use with real STs and emulators, where I will try to create both an TOS and an SMS2 partition, make it bootable, put all my 80s/90s written ST and SMS2 (Sinclair QL QDOS operation system for ATARI ST) software on it, I already tried last winter to build such a thing, still struggling... And, IIRC standard TOS/GEM has no HDD driver built in, a driver is needed, right? And from googling, some drivers are commercial, some a free. So questions like "Best free HDD driver to use for an Image for Ultrasatan MINI or Hatari?" came up. Thank you for advice. And something like a step by step guide for dummies would be awesome. Best regards, Urs

masteries
EmuTOS includes its own driver. Also, there is a downloable 1GB disk image with driver from Peter Putnik site. Ideal for testing and evaluate his driver, with a decent amount of available storage.

HDDriver also includes a demo version... Curious that you didn't mention that? Though not surprising.

Though not surprising. Yes, it includes a demo version with a tiny partition size, 1 GB is usually well suited for most user needs; tiny sizes like floppy disk ones are not much useful, also for evaluation purposes users usually desire to execute some demoscene and other medium sized software prior to make a decision You don´t mentioned the tiny partition size of the cited demo version, Though not surprising too? EmuTOS is free and includes its own driver, ready to use SD card image included here as an attachment. If you can image your drive, you could use STeemSSE to mount PP's image and your disk image and copy that way
