Reaperman
I guess this fits this forum. Silly question, with the rise of consumer-grade mini-arcade cabs, and also some seemingly solid home ski-ball choices, anybody seen a scaled-down coin pusher, of higher quality than those tiny child-banks? Any recommendations? I remember as a child going to the city fair in the early 90's, parked outside the arcade tent was a horse-style wagon covered in about ten little coin-pushers for kids to gamble their precious quarters away on--one of those would be the perfect size for me, but I don't know what they'd be called, and have never seen one for sale. They were about half the size of a freestanding unit in width and depth, and dropped quarters inside a cavity in the wagon so were much shorter than a freestanding unit. And despite the size, they still had multiple tiers of pusher. Anybody got any 'magic words' for searching for that kind of thing? Anyway there are a few little ones I've seen recently but these seem very small, very toy-like, and don't even seem to drop coins from the edges--meaning they're actually 'fair' or 100% payout 👎. They're also quite expensive for what they are. I'd be welling to pay fairly good money for a small pusher, but they'd need to be a lot nicer. Here's the toys that my searches have turned up lately: Edited October 22, 2022 by Reaperman
Reaperman
Double post. Well, a few hours on google and it looks like I've found one answer to my own question with the modern 'Coin Pusher 365' A compact $700 (w/ free shipping) coin pusher. Not sure if this is too rich for me, but certainly is at this exact moment. A few times a year I get excess money, so maybe. Looks really cool, seems nice and small, yet complex enough for entertainment with 'lost coin' drop, adjustable difficulty, etc. Edited October 22, 2022 by Reaperman
Turbo-Torch
Wouldn't that get boring after a few minutes? Seems like a slot machine where no skill is needed and the only thrill involved is the chance of winning money...but when it's already your money inside, it's sort of a fancy $700 piggy bank. 🐖 I've tried them at casinos, but if I was at a friend's party and won money out of one, I'd feel guilty keeping it. lol
mr.bill
I would agree, if you found one, it would loose interest quickly. other than using it as a gambling device(they make tons of money, especially if you clean off the ledge occasionally). you need to have some sort of lockout system to protect from tipping it forward and dumping your coins. If you want something a little more interesting maybe a plush or candy crane? They have pusher candy cranes.
Reaperman
I'm not sure why we wouldn't assume that the person starting a thread on coin pushers actually wants a coin pusher. A coin pusher is much more skill-based than a "skill" crane is. Cranes actually have difficulty settings based on percentages. BobAtari
I've got a Coin Pusher 365 and it's really nice. The comments about it being a fairly "pointless" thing to have in your home are valid, but there are ways to "gamify" it for playing by yourself if you need that - give yourself a limited number of coins or time and see how much you can get out, or whether you can get a specific prize. (It comes with little bonus poker-chip tokens or you can put your own prizes in.) Mostly I just like having it for a little therapeutic relaxation from time to time. The sound of those coins cascading into the win slot never gets old. It's a lot of money for a toy, but if you've got the spare cash, why not enjoy it?
