+DarkLord
Does anyone think that there might be a chance of talking Lotharek into making the RSVE mod for Atari ST computers? I thought I had one but have been unable to find it. I know, there's a couple of files out there detailing how to make your own. I've looked at those docs and feel uncomfortable about doing it myself. I also searched Ebay and Ebay Germany but found nothing. Thanks. PS Also posted to Atari Forum and Exxos's Forums... +DarkLord
It's a small mod to increase serial port speed. You use it along with HSModem to basically double the standard 19.2k speed to 38.4, even on a bog standard 8mhz ST. Theoretically, accelerated machines can go even higher. Here's an article from ST Format that should help explain:
MasterMotorola
I like how the article mentions one of the necessary tools required is a standard-issue Starfleet tricorder. 1

They didn't call the magazine Star Trek Format for nothing...

Yeah, pretty funny. I'm guessing Karen is an editor?

Karen just happens to be my wife's name and she is a big Trekkie. 😆 But Karen Levell was the editor of "ST Format" at the time. Those SN74HC4040 chips are still in production and are now half the 1995 price so it wouldn't cost much for someone with soldering skills to make a batch of them. I was hoping to get Lotharek involved but currently, "Sporniket" from Exxos's Forums is going to attempt it. Keeping my fingers crossed... Lynxpro
What are the chances some of these chips are included in a bunch of old Motorola branded modems that are e-wasted?
+DarkLord
Not a clue. Sporniket is working on this project and it's pretty much completed. https://exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5926 I've got 3 requested, as soon as I can get my hands on them and install one, I'll post the results, yay or nay... Nothing is guaranteed (especially when it's me involved working on it!) but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
