+atari2600land
I was reading an old Nintendo Power. On the title screen of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure for Super Nintendo, press Select, A, A, A, A, A, A, Select, Start. You will now be playing the original Pitfall for the 2600. A nice Easter egg there.
Video
Cool, didn't know that. There's a spot in the actual game you found an 8 bit scorpion, and passing it kicked you to the original pitfall too.

A nice Easter egg there. I think all versions had the 2600 game as a thing you can find in-game. Didn't know there was cheat code you could use from the menu to get to it. Good to know. Wonder if that trick works on all platforms?
Atariboy
There's also a rom hack for the SNES version that turns the 2600 game into a standalone game. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/6471/
Jason_Atari
I remember on the PS1 release the password was cranesbaby to play the 2600 version.
H454
The 2600 pitfall is hidden in like the first or second level in the SNES version( and others?). It been decades since I played this, but I think it was a doorway in a grey stone building.
