HarmonB
I recently bought a 2 port 5200 off of eBay. At first I was able to play a few of the games I bought, but now every game just gives a lime green screen. Any ideas?

HarmonB
I just cleaned them and I'm still getting the green screen. Could anything else cause this?
CPUWIZ
Open it up, pull and re-socket all the chips and try again.
Callipygous
Alchohol, a toothbrush, and q-tips CLEAN YOUR CONTACTS!!! Okay, I got drunk, brushed my teeth, cleaned my ears and put my contacts in solution. I feel much better now.
ziggystar
If reseating your chips does not work, you have a bad ram chip or 6502 chip. It's easy to replace.
Megamatt
Ok, I have basically the same problem with my 4-port, and I registered here just to get some help. The only difference seems to be that I get an orange screen. I have cleaned the contacts but every game is giving me the same orange screen. Is there any help for these kind of issues in a FAQ, or would somebody mind explaining the process to people like me who aren't experienced in gutting a board and replacing / re-socketing chips? Somebody please help me
Curt Vendel
Most likely it is some bad ram, the other symptom is a bad PIA, but they rarely ever go bad. Curt
Megamatt
But, uh, what do I do about it? How do I go about pinpointing the bad RAM, taking it out and finding good RAM to replace it with?
Megamatt
Please, guys. I am not an experienced technical person. Would someone please explain the whole process to me?
Draikar
Please, guys. I am not an experienced technical person. Would someone please explain the whole process to me? Sale the system on ebay as untested, then buy another one that works. (sorry thats a sick joke)
Charlie_
Please, guys. I am not an experienced technical person. Would someone please explain the whole process to me? I find it odd that you have the same problem with 2 systems.... Try cleaning the contacts on the game carts with alcohol and a qtip. If that doesnt work, snipe a 2 port from ebay for as little money as possible.
classics
Theres something about 5200s that breaks and isnt easy to fix. I've got two dead 5200 motherboards here that have had all the vlsi chips swapped out and the regulators replaced, but still wont run. I think the soft-on power section of these things is often the culprit. Looking at the schematic posted here at AA it looks like there are a lot of places in that circuit for things to go wrong.
