Was breakout ever released in PAL regions?

Hi all,

I'm writing to ask a question or two about Breakout. was the game ever released in PAL territories? I'm from the UK, so I have a PAL 2600. I also have a copy of Breakout, which I'm unsure if it's PAL or NTSC. will an NTSC copy of Breakout work on a PAL console? I look forward to hearing a response.

Many thanks,

Also looking on eBay all the -P ones are text label and none of the picture ones have a -P.  Interesting.

And this one claims to be PAL but no -P on the label.

EBAY

EBAY 2

And the second one he says never used.  Not sure if it can be so.  Somebody had the game since 1978 and never used it.

The screen rolls if you put a PAL cart in a NTSC version.

Depends on your display, below is the PAL game Wing War running on my NTSC 2600.

Plays fine, though the colors are incorrect as seen by running it in Stella:

If your display rolls you might be able to adjust the Vertical Hold to get a stable picture.

My copy of breakout has cx2622-P on the cart which I believe means it’s PAL

Mine does too. Really need to get my hands on a composite modded 2600, since I have no CRT TVs in my possession. Thank you all for your responses.

PAL got a release of Breakout. We also got Super Breakout - I'd go for Super instead as it's far better and it runs really well - doesn't feel very different to the NTSC version.  Original Breakout does have nice variations though like timed games, steerable balls and breakthru. It also has 2v2 team games.  But it has a 2 wall limit - Super Breakout has limitless walls for you. :)
