Out of curiosity, why are the tombstones underneath the characters instead of the same level or overlapping? Artisically I can see it trying to add layered depth to the scene but I don't think it's accomplishing that with the third level underneath being detailed UI as it seems to blend into that just as much as with the action above. Is it also because of CPU cycle limitations? I know in the original demo you published there was alot of action going on so figured I'd ask. Also, I like how you handled the transition from night sky to the play level visually and might even recommend continuing that even lower with darker colors blending towards the black assuming you can as it's a cool effect. Thanks for feedback :-) I had to move the tombstones underneath to remove the flickering and extra lines and also because of CPU cycle limitations. I have done a lot of testing and focused on improving playability. I think the gameplay is faster and have a bether flow like this. The illusion of depth is more visible when the foreground start moving than what it looks like in the screenshot. I will also probably experiment more with color transitions before it's finished.

Looking forward to seeing a video or even an updated demo! I didn't realize the foreground will be moving and I agree it'll look alot more cohesive when that is shown.

LatchKeyKid
Thanks and I look forward to trying it myself tomorrow! I enjoyed the streaming play on ZPH and love the sprite work. You were right in that the parallax scrolling for the cemetery and sky does make a huge difference. I also like what you did with the windows on the interior of the castle!
alfredtdk
This game was incredible by Atari 2600 standards, it even has digitized voices (laughter) at the end. I'm a big fan of Golden Axe and Rastan, this one is definitely on my list of Atari 2600 favorites.
