Finished the BMX course for the first time ever (?)

I don't have any of my own classic time to contribute this week, but man, I played this to death as a kid (on the C64).  I remember when I finally put it all together and could finish the race.  It felt like quite the accomplishment.  Then you can add extra tricks into the mix for a higher score, and I think there are difficulty options too.  In a recent poll about your favorite C64 racing game this was one of my answers.

Atari 8-bit:
Meteor Storm - 11 min.
Repton - 16 min.

Both games belong to the category "not played in the HSC before". Repton is the main game to me, a Defender style game where you can opt to stay perfectly still in space, and move only when you shoot. Meteor Storm reminds me of some lesser known arcade game that I think was brought up elsewhere before, more of a bonus game in comparison.

Here are my times for this past week (June 12th through 18th, 2023) on classic systems:

Atari 2600:

Elevator Action (Prototype) - 2 minutes

NES:

Elevator Action - 80 minutes in 8 sessions

I'm now through with playing Slymoids after I realized last week that I can't get past Level 4 no matter what I do. So I changed to the NES version of Elevator Action since the original arcade version isn't availaible easily. The game is remarkably true to the arcade, especially the sprite graphics, but you can see that the NES tries hard to display all those graphics, and the sounds are a bit off as well. I routinely get to Round 3 now, surpassing about 15.000 points. I also attempted the Atari 2600 version, but I only found the prototype which doesn't do too much.

Just one classic game.  I really do mean to post here more often.  lol

TurboGrafx 16

World Court Tennis - 240 min (Did a short stream of this.  It's got a "Quest" mode that is an RPG.  A tennis RPG.  Random battles are tennis games.  It's kinda tough because all the random matches, you are on the bottom court.  But there are some fights where you switch back and forth like in a real tennis game, and being on the top court really messed with me.)

Finished Gunple, and then moved onto another fan translated gem, Front Mission: Gun Hazard. This is my first go at this shoot 'em up / RPG hybrid and I'm hooked. Why oh why were these not released in the West back then?

SNES

Battle Pinball - 35 min

Front Mission: Gun Hazard (jpn, Aeon Genesis translation) - 305 min

Gunple: Gunman's Proof (jpn, Aeon Genesis translation) - 108 min

Week of 6/12/23 - 6/18/23

Atari 2600

Basketball - 30

Burgertime - 30

Sheep It Up - 30

Stay Frosty 2 - 45

Commodore 64

Times of Lore - 20

Total time = 155 minutes

I beat Times of Lore. In the end, the hardest part was just finding the final dungeon without losing too much health along the way. The version I was playing seems to crash after it gives the final score, so I had to watch the ending video on Youtube. I can't recommend this game. It's sometimes described as "Ultima light", but really they are worlds apart. ToL isn't even an RPG, just a rather boring action game disguised as one.

SNES-

FF mq- 6-1/2 hrs

Star Force arcade via Xbox Tecmo collection - 20min

NES -

Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom -45 min

1942- 75min

Spartan X- 10min

Our Retro Duo finally broke. The mounting studs for the NES cart slot sheared off. I replaced it with the Yobo FC2 slim model, which is surprisingly good. Even the cart slots are much easier to use, and it has higher compatibility so far.

NES -

Crystalis 3hrs 5min

Mario Bros- 35min

Thundercade- 10min

Dead Fox- 10min (some kind of Rolling Thunder knockoff, with Rommel, and helicopters for some reason. Can't read Jp, but it plays well)

Now have sword of water, and all the other things done, up to the Angry Sea portion. Never thought I'd be using turbo fire buttons on an RPG, but it's working. ;)

8. Genesis (1 game) - 65 min. (#6)
8. Atari Lynx (1 game) - 65 min. (#10)
10. Atari 8-bit (2 games) - 27 min.

As the Dreamcast goes back to sleep, the dynamic Nintendo duo SNES and NES battle for the most played system. On the individual side, Pokémon Gold on the GBC also wants a word but Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest steps into first place, just like Solar Fox steps into first place on the pre-NES list.

No changes to the 1000, 5000, 10000 Minute Clubs this week, though we broke 100,000 minutes this season. More detailed mid-season stats coming up in two weeks.
