carlsson
Atari 8-bit: James Bond 007 (cart version) - 44 min. Living Daylights, The - 8 min. Once I learned the controls and the missions in 007, it slowly grew upon me. Far from the top 10 games of all times, but much more playable than it first looked like. I'm sorry to say I can't claim the same thing about TLD, or maybe I need to read the instructions on that one too.

Kurt_Woloch
Here are my times for this week (July 31st through August 6th) on classic systems: Commodore 64: Popeye V1 - 18 min. Nintendo Entertainment System: Popeye - 9 min. MSX: Actman - 41 min. in 2 sessions This week I played some classic games as well. I discovered that there was a second, unreleased version of Popeye which was done by adapting the Atari 800 version to the C-64. But it was bad so Parker Brothers rejected it, and a new one was programmed from scatch. That early version does have something for it though... the bottles actually look like bottles and flow smoothly around the screen, and the movement up and down the stairs looks ore realistic. But, oh, the slowdowns! If Popeye moves, the game moves slower than if he's standing still, which makes your timing a bit harder. Also, the colors are off, and the sound hasn't been to well adapted... the step sounds are missing if Popeye is walking. The Atari 8-bit version if pretty good, but its adaption not as much. Still you can find everything about it here: Popeye V1 (C64) - 1983 Parker Brothers - GTW64 (gamesthatwerent.com) While I was at it, i also tried the NES version which you can play online. Then I discovered Actman on the MSX computer from a Youtube video. This is kind of a platformer, but you have to partly use ropes to get around the screen. You have to collect all the puzzle pieces scattered around each screen to win a level, but are hindered by racoons (that's what I think they are), flying birds, fish that jump out of the water and an attacking blob. Life has been tough for me lately so it was really nice to get in some gameplay, if only a little bit. Skippy B. Coyote
After deciding I wasn't really all that into the PSP remake of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood last week, this week I decided to dink around with the PC Engine original for a few minutes; then tried out the SNES reimagining Castlevania: Dracula X. In comparison to the PC Engine version of Rondo of Blood I thought Dracula X on the SNES was a little underwhelming, but when evaluated on it's own merits it's a pretty good game! There's quite a few spots in the game that I felt were just plain unfair (mainly enemies zooming in from off screen when you're in the middle of a jump and knocking you back into a bottomless pit) but overall it's not a terrible game, it's just not even close to being a masterpiece like Rondo of Blood or Symphony of the Night. Putting Castlevania aside for a bit, I spent the rest of the week just playing through Resident Evil 2 for the original PlayStation for the first time in many years. It's just as amazing of a game as ever and I had a lotta fun playing through the first scenario with Leon, and tonight I'll be starting in on the second scenario with Claire PC Engine CD-ROM² Castlevania: Rondo of Blood - 18 minutes PlayStation Resident Evil 2 - 307 minutes Super Nintendo Castlevania: Dracula X - 131 minutes Edited August 8, 2023 by Skippy B. We logged 3233 minutes of eligible play, playing 62 games on a total of 17 systems. Top 10: 1. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 367 min. (#2) 2. Resident Evil 2 (PlayStation) - 307 min. 3. BurgerTime (Arcade) - 200 min. 4. Willow (NES/Famicom) - 180 min. 5. Castlevania: Dracula X (SNES) - 131 min. 6. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 121 min. (#8) 7. Stampede (Atari 2600) - 114 min. 8. Air Raid (Atari 2600) - 110 min. 8. MegaMania (Atari 8-bit) - 110 min. 10. Sampras Extreme Tennis (PlayStation) - 99 min. (#1) Pre-NES top 10: 1. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 367 min. (PN#1) 2. BurgerTime (Arcade) - 200 min. 3. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 121 min. (PN#3) 4. Stampede (Atari 2600) - 114 min. 5. Air Raid (Atari 2600) - 110 min. 6. MegaMania (Atari 8-bit) - 110 min. 7. Pac-Man (Arcade) - 60 min. 8. James Bond 007 (cartridge version) (Atari 8-bit) - 44 min. (PN#6) 9. Actman (MSX) - 41 min. 10. Pac-Man Arcade Enhanced Version (Atari 2600) - 35 min. Top 10 systems: 1. Atari 2600 (14 games) - 843 min. (#1) 2. PlayStation (12 games) - 779 min. (#2) 3. NES/Famicom (9 games) - 464 min. (#3) 4. Arcade (3 games) - 267 min. (#4) 5. Atari Lynx (3 games) - 220 min. 6. Atari 8-bit (3 games) - 162 min. 7. SNES (1 game) - 131 min. (#7) 8. Atari 5200 (3 games) - 60 min. 9. Sega Master System (1 game) - 50 min. 10. Game Gear (2 games) - 45 min. (#10) Solar Fox takes the triple this week, while last week's #1 Sampras Extreme Tennis just barely (one minute to spare!) makes the overall top list. Perhaps the most noteworthy is that on the systems list, all the 6 systems remaining from last week maintain their exact positions, while other systems find their way inbetween, replacing those who didn't make the systems list this week. No changes to the 1000, 5000, 10000 Minute Clubs. In the yearly total, Kaboom! has been played exactly 2600 minutes this year, which seems fitting. 3 4

carlsson
Atari 8-bit: Maniac Miner - 9 min. Manic Miner - 15 min. O'Riley's Mine - 28 min. HSC stuff as usual, new round that started today Sunday which fits me well as I barely ever get to play games other than on Sunday afternoons/evenings. O'Riley's Mine is a version I patched a while ago without extra lives since the game tends to be generous about those, but I'll combine the times with any previous entry.
TheGameCollector
This week I played: Pokemon Gold Version for Game Boy Color - 396 minutes Progress: I got all the remaining Pokemon you can catch in the wild in-game except for Raikou, Entei and Suicune. Plus I don't yet have the two Porygon and five additional Eevee I need to consider this file as far as I can go without trading, using any of the Pokemon or evolving them without stones. My plan is to back up all of the untouched Pokemon with PkHex first, then start evolving what needs to be evolved. What I did last time I played these games was trade myself some extra Master Balls from spare files to catch those three legendary Pokemon because they were so frustrating to try to get. I could also trade myself Nuggets to resell to buy coins to skip a lot of the slot machine playing. Since traded items don't really affect anything and the Pokemon I get will still come from within the game, I might seriously think of doing this again because it just takes way too long. I could just as easily trade these things from a clone of my same file for now so I don't have to start Silver Version yet.
