xulchris
I'm sick and tired of eBayers trying to take advantage of people saying obelix is a rarity 10. It is rarity 8 at best. Please fix this!
MegaManFan
Heh, if it's bumped down to 9 maybe someone will finally sell me one at a fair price. I know one guy who has four who wouldn't even sell me one for $60.
xulchris
I picked mine up for $50, which is about the rate a rarity 8 cart sells for. Perhaps rarity 8 is even too high.
MegaManFan
I offered $50 the first time, when he said no I went up to $60 and still got the brush-off.
sku_u
Keep obelix where it is. I need to have AT LEAST 1 10 in my collection. Sheesh I paid $150 for mine so don't feel too bad. I wouldn't sell one for $60 either.
CPUWIZ
Also, why should the NTSC rating change because PAL copies keep popping up left and right ?
Alex
I'm sick and tired of eBayers trying to take advantage of people saying obelix is a rarity 10. It is rarity 8 at best. Please fix this! Obelix NTSC = 10 Obelix PAL = 7 Are you referring to NTSC or PAL?
xulchris
@Alex: I am referring to NTSC. @CPUWIZ: The NTSC version shows up left and right too: http://search-completed.ebay.com/search/se...completedonly=1 last one sold for $60. I most certainly would not put that in the same category as video life.

So no NTSC copy right now on eBay. So why not a 10.
Alex
Three of those four are almost certainly PAL, but the multilingual auction may be NTSC. Many Canadian releases are multilingual and I think most (if not virtually all) of the NTSC Obelix are probably Canadian. Anyone else think the NTSC version should be lowered? xulchris
4 Obelix right now, and all PAL (3 say, that they PAL, and the fourth has a multilanguage manual). So no NTSC copy right now on eBay. So why not a 10. oh sorry, I thought two of those were NTSC. Well the NTSC version also comes with multilingual manual. Am I mistaken? All Obelix manuals are multilingual. Anyway, I see NTSC Obelix on eBay ALL THE TIME. It is by no means a rarity 10. I've probably seen about 20 in the past year, most sold for around $50. That sure is one hell of a common and cheap rarity 10 cart if you ask me. Very deceiving.
MattyXB
Ok, sorry. Have not know with the manual, that the NTSC is too with more languages. But then maybe only 1 NTSC Obelix. The other 2 are from UK, a PAL country. And too with Asterix listed as Prototype. Never see a Prototype with such a nice lable, and manual. So both are PAL I think. MattG/Snyper2099
I think the NTSC one should be a 9. It's about as rare as q bert's qubes.
Marco
I agree, a 9 would for NTSC Obelix be more than enough. It just does not belong in the same category as Air Raid and Video Life. Cheers, Marco
CincYnoTi
if you are going to adjust obelix, you should put music machine at the same rarity as obelix. check out: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15567 according to atariage members, there are more music machine out there than NTSC obelix. matter of fact maybe magicard should be made a rarity=9 also, please make entries for NTSC puzzy seamonster and space tunnel: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17963 apparently, they are the rarest of the rarity=9. CincYnoTi
FYI, on ebay so far this year, i have spotted 14 quadrun, 11 music machine, and 10 NTSC obelix. oh and only 3 magicard
SpendTooMuchOnAtari
I paid a little over $100.00 with S&H for my NTSC Obelix with the instruction manual in very nice condition. I agree that it doesn't seem to be quite a 10 but like the other guy said, I am also happy that I have a "10" in my collection.

I have only seen 2 music machines and 2 magicards, and atleast 10-15 ntsc obelixs.

I have only seen 2 music machines and 2 magicards, and atleast 10-15 ntsc obelixs. here are links to four music machine in the last couple months that still show up with their ebay links: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3&category=3537 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7&category=3528 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=27180 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3044459025 one of those was from cpuwiz, dunno if he still has it, if you are looking for music machine ask him. a music machine shows up just about every month, you just have to look closely, or be the first one to a BIN. why do people choose to spend what they do on a particular item? many many factors go in to that. one is probably their "perception" of value. i wasn't commenting on bid prices and value, just sharing the data i had recorded. obviously, i only see what i see, not the things that i don't see . and that's only ebay data, and says nothing about transactions outside of ebay. btw, the highest price i have seen on ebay this year for music machine was $270. last year, it was $425. holygrailvideogames.com
The German embassy sure keeps good records. I see Obelix on eBay all of the time. I pass on a lot of BIN's under a $100. If I saw some of the other rarity 10's for under $100 I would buy them. In other words I don't think it is a rarity 10, but if I had it in my collection, I would be pissed if the rating was lowered. DP rates it as a rarity 7. I don't want to start a DP vs. AA battle here. I probably would put the rarity somewhere in the middle. I personally think it is about an 8 considering how often I see it pop up on eBay. I would say no higher than a 9.
CincYnoTi
digital press seems to have some odd rarity numbers for games that are more common in pal format. bmx, ikari, obelix, asterix, motorodeo...all these seem to be rated on their general availability (either pal or ntsc) in digital press. i know the guide is broken into sections for "american" releases and PAL-only releases. but it sure seems like the NTSC versions of motorodeo, ikari and obelix are more rare than the rating give in the guide. Numan
Keep Obelix a 10. The reason for the differentiation in the prices may be the desirability. How popular is a French cartoon character versus the hype over Quadrun or Music Machine? Being involved with rgvc since the mid 1990's, I remember hype over Quadrun but not Obelix. And for the sake that this is the only 10 in my collection....i agree 100%! Seriously, I agree that Quadrun has one of the first games to have voice, i guess it is the first, don't know if Open Sesame is before or after. Anyway, Obelix doesn't have much going for it, especially for us in America. Keep it a 10! I am going to change the little saying under my name when I post to "KEEP OBELIX A 10"!
