COSMICHER-G.BIN << Cartridge image (32K)

 

Following on from my game for Rich Ext.Basic, here's a version of it on Cartridge for 32K systems.  There is a significant addition, the bonus stage where your player ship transforms into a Defender type ship and faces enemies the other way around, for bonus points.  The video attached shows the following:

* Animated meteors borrowed from Parsec.  ( I'll put them back, I promise! )
* Rescue ship transforming into Defender ship for bonus stage
* Crashing with a hostage on board, and the hostage falling to his death
* Thruster overheat, which gets worse every level (up to a point).

Have a go and see what high score you can get!

Thanks unhuman.  That's been a particular area where I thought I needed to improve, the explosion sequences.  Two of my absolute favourite explosions are the player ships in both Parsec and especially Defender.  Defender inspired Jeff Minter , has it happens.  He used to put similar stuff into his games.

Hi,  I've enjoyed playing Cosmic Hero.

I downloaded the Cartridge version to play using my FinalGrom99.

It works fine as a cartridge on Tursi's Classic 99.  (The RXB version works fine as well.)

 

I can't get it to work on my system (I have both a Tipi and SAMs sidecars attached to my console.) 

When I run the file, I see "Cosmic" in the menu but only get a blank cyan screen.

Am I missing something?

All compiled games converted in cart format need the 32K memory unit to run.

The SAMS sidecar should respond as a normal 32K in this instance, so something else must be going on to keep the cartridge from running.

Forgot that FinalGrom99 prefers 8.3 filenames.  I renamed "COSMICHER-8.BIN" to "COSMIC-8.BIN" and it works fine! using both my TIPI/32 and TIPI/SAMS setup. 🤔
