Does anyone think these Samsung Drives are considered the best to have for your OG Xbox. I mean i have modded system. But i think i remember around 2012-2014 when i had a stock OG xbox I believe it had a samsung drive in it and it reads almost everything.

Does anyone own these OG Xbox samsung DVD Drive, because these are usually the best to have and has a better consistency with reading burned media and retail games. I had a thompson drive, and it sucked.

My good one, mid 2004, has one of those. Works like a champ. The Thompson drives only last, if cleaned near religiously. I have one in my pos softmodded "Hackbox". It just has to register that it's present, for my needs there.

1- Hitachi- top notch, uncommon, reads anything, even RW discs, but not CDR

2- Samsung- more reliable than others, but no DVD+R, very close 2nd.

3- Phillips- reads more DVD formats than Samsung, but weaker in CD use. Likes top grade CDRW

4- Thompson- super picky on cdrw, reads +R and -R, including RW, but still junk.
