Activision Dolphin test cart

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have an Activision 'Dolphin' test cartridge in a normal, black Activision shell, but with a solid, red label and a sticker at the end with

'Activision, Inc.

AX-024. Dolphin TM

typed out, but also, the date:

C  12/20/82'

handwritten in blue pen/inkThis was before the 1983 release date

The metal pins/contacts are in very good shape. There is no dust flap on this cartridge.

I'm just curious if anyone is interested in buying it, or if someone can maybe give me an estimated valuation for it?

I would hate to post it on eBay and sell it for less than it's worth but I have no idea what that would be.

Thank you,

~Tony

Would this be considered a 'Test Cart' or a 'Prototype' ?  What is the difference?

I searched but couldn't find any other Activision test or prototype carts like this on eBay (current or past listings), that could give me a clue as to whether it is rare or valuable.

Test or Review Cart.  Basically something sent to playtesters or magazines for review.  Technically it's a prototype, but it's the final version.  It's rare, but Activision review carts are fairly common as far as prototypes go.  I'm not sure what the current going rate is.
