zzip
What's a good Atari-native tool for creating ATASCII animations? I searched over the weekend and couldn't find anything. I recall using some back in the day, so they must exist. I know I can read from K: and write to a file, but I'm hoping with something with a little more editing capabilities than than
Doctorx
The one i used as well as a lot of people in the southern usa (and likely everywhere) was called Atascii Animator.. i have yet to find a copy current day though… 3

Ricky Spanish
Mat*Rat was big into ATASCII animations.
The Mr. Video
There's also Atari 'Toons. Although, ATASCII Animator is probably more advanced considering Atari 'Toons is a BASIC type-in program. https://www.atarimagazines.com/v4n4/toons.html
invisible kid
I was playing around with Atari 'Toons and was unable to download ATARTOON.SYS. Maybe I'll type it in from the listings, but that might trigger bad memories lol

invisible kid
Thanks! I think some ARC files need to be extracted by unarc on the 8 bit platform. I think I used to use SuperUnarc. If you don't want to give it a go I can give it a shot.
invisible kid
I got the files from Antic magazine and threw them on an atr. It gets further with ATARTOON.SYS, but now crashes on atari800 using NTSC 48k 800 and 320k 800xl. Here it is in case someone can get it working: Load with basic, then RUN"D:ATARTOONS.BAS ETA: Removed empty CHAR.SET file, but still crashes ETA2: Updated working version in new post Edited April 11, 2023 by invisible kid
_The Doctor__
right click save as for .sys files, browsers anitvirus etc don't like left click on sys files. .sys file is created by the listing in the magazine, it might need to be named as the magazine states
