atari1byte
I would like to use a programming language to be able to make a 2d game (with sprites) with documentation. what do you recommend? I know C and C# pretty well. Thank you all for a response!
Iamgroot
Depends on how you want to make the game. The IIGS has a lot of tool sets that are supposed to make graphics creation and animation easier. Don't know if they can be programmed through a C language though. I think you are best to post your question over on comp.sys.apple2.programmer as there is a guy over there that has created quite a few games for the IIGS. The Usotsuki
There is a C compiler. Not, afaik, a free one, but a commercial compiler does exist. And I'm pretty sure there's APIs into the Toolkit.
CaptainBreakout
Brutal Deluxe is a group that I believe is still active. Check out what they've done.. they pushed the IIgs far past it's perceived limit and they might have dev tools you can use. FTA may also have similar stuff. I'd start by looking at these two groups and seeing if they ever made any dev environments for enthusiasts. (Back in the day, I made a lot of my own material by modifying FTA's stuff)

Duhast
https://github.com/lscharen/iigs-game-engine Orca/C is available from Juiced.GS, in the Opus collection. https://juiced.gs/store/opus-ii-software/ It's still actively updated. https://www.callapple.org/programming/orca-c-2-2-0-b7-released/
hwrd
https://whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/programming-applications.html has a series of programming applications listed. I bought the Orca set, which is very comprehensive (language choices available), and has very detailed documentation. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get Orca C nor Orca Pascal to link, using multiple emulators, a real IIGS, and 6.0.1 and 6.0.3... I wish there was a STOS/AMOS equivalent for the IIGS...
