djglish
Is there a way to identify the type of TOS in a STFM by the labeling on the chips? I have a motherboard that was removed from a non-operating ST that has the 6 ROM TOS. I'm guessing that it is TOs 1.04 but can't run SysInfo since it is just the MB. It depends on when it was manufactured. Early ST/F were manufactured with 6 chip ROM TOS 1.0. Later STFM were manufactured with 2 chip ROM TOS 1.02 or 6 chip ROM TOS 1.02. TOS 1.04 was an upgrade normally by EPROM rather than ROM. Please attach an image of your unidentified ROM chips and we can see if they can be matched against known ROM versions. Atari74user
You should be able to tell via the desktop and selecting Desk Info... from the Desk menu. You can then identify which version from the years which will display as follows: TOS 1.0 - 1985 TOS 1.02 - 1986, 1987 (aka BLiTTER or Mega TOS) TOS 1.04 - 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989 (and if in colour, will display a cyclical rainbow coloured Atari logo, hence the nickname of 'Rainbow TOS'. There may be slight variations). Point taken about MB though. Edited May 27, 2023 by Atari74user
djglish
Here are some shots of the motherboard with the TOS chips and the Atari Revision number.
kodak80
The codes in the chips would indicate you have TOS version 1.00 US language.

djglish
Thanks to both of you for the information. I was surprised that the person that I got this from hadn't updated it (his S/O gave it to me after he passed away).
