KG7PFS
Has anyone else ever noticed the similarity between the Atari XE series and the vTech Laser 128EX? The case looks like it was designed by the same person. The color - even the label - is the same, and the style is too similar for this to be a coincedence.

Krebizfan
The Laser looks like one of many designs that took the Apple IIc as inspiration but gave the keyboard a look similar to what IBM used. The MPF-I/88 was one of the first with those stylings except a small LCD was incorporated. https://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=1132
carlsson
I'd say it was the design language of the mid-late 80's. If the Laser 128 would've had slanted function keys, I would buy your suggestion about a relation between the two.
ClausB
Now that you mention it, there are some common design cues: diagonal stripes; red company name and white model name on a strip; key legends at upper left corners; case color.
