Simple way to make the Bluetooth 8bitdo DB9 adaptor to work on the Atari 2600 Without any warranty voids is to make a crossover cable.  It Worked for me On Atari Junior 2600. Simply Disconnect Pin 7 from The Female side of the crossover cable with the 8BITDO and connect Pin5 from this side with 8bitdo too to Pin 7 on the Atari side of the Crossover cable All other WIREs Remain the Same. It will then enable Bluetooth controller including wake from sleep.

I have several Bluetooth controls that work with this including Wiimote and an EasySMX ESM -4108.  To Synchronise hold pair on remote then hold the blue button on the 8bitdo slow blue flashing should be more rapid when it Syncs it should turn solid blue and the control should rumble. Press select for 3 seconds and you will see the light on the dongle flash a couple of times to indicate it switched to 2 button mode. If the control falls asleep the Blue light will stop until you wake the controller. It should still be Synchronised.

This Configuration without the 8bitdo plugged into the crossover and  A Wired Sega Genesis/Megadrive Controller plugged into this crossover cable also allows the use of SEGA Megadrive or GENESIS Controller's to work on the Atari 2600 when plugged into the Atari 2600 With The Megadrive control B button as Atari 2600 trigger button.
