Use Atari 2600+ for development?

Is it powerful enough to run things other than emulated ROMs?  I'm genuinely asking.  I know the VCS machine that came out a few years ago had a multicore Ryzen processor so was basically an entry level budget computer but I'm not sure about this.  An app/program that allows you to code and complile homebrew for the 2600 sounds like a great idea for both.

Anything that is powerful enough to run Stella should be powerful enough to run a dev environment, assuming that there was some way to load software, and connect a keyboard. I can't think of any reason why a budget laptop with Stella wouldn't make a far superior dev system, though.

to the OP: Yes. You can use batari Basic (or more complex methods) to make games for the Atari 2600, that will work in the Atari 2600+.

There may be limitations based on the bankswitching method used, but "standard" Atari-style 4K through 32K games should work fine.

I have no idea if there's a way to run games via USB port, etc., but definitely if you "burn" a game onto a PCB (contact me, Albert at AtariAge, or perhaps others), and that can be done quite easily, you can play your own game on the system.
