It's 2023... What is the most popular way to use non-Apple analog/digital controllers as an Apple joystick?

Recommended Posts

I've seen so many solutions but many of them are old or not supported any more throughout the years.

My instinct is to go with one of the several 15pin IBM compatible adapters to Apple since those are relative available.

But I would love to be able to just use an analog stick from a modern controller also.

What do you hardcore Apple ][ or // users recommend in 2023?

Console5 sells an adapter that allows the use of a variety of controllers. It was just recently updated some time this year to now support PlayStation controllers. Afaik, the analog stick on the PlayStation controller works as analog on the apple. Obviously all the other controller options will be digital.

I ended up getting one from a U.S. reseller of www.laser.com for less than half the price of that Console5 one.   Granted it only converts PC DB15 controllers and not SNES.  BUT... it has a couple of onboard pots to allow X and Y trim controller on the adapter in case your controller doesn't.
