Joystick Storage on an original VCS

I often wondered if they ever considered making wells in the 2600 case to store the joysticks like in the unreleased Tank Console since they ditched the speakers.

There would be room for it. I remember way back in the day being shocked how empty the case was when I opened it up to have a look.

 

Although the plan for speakers would have prevented it in the original blueprint.

That looks pretty good when it's all tucked away, very neat. The paddles would still need a home, which is why there were "organizers" sold for the first few generations of home consoles. I think they died out around the time of SNES/Genesis.
