Petit FS fat file system

The TI/Geneve has a file system that is limited on a hard drive to 248mb like in a discussion on the New IDE card thread here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/355391-new-ide-card/?do=findComment&comment=5334768

My question is this, can a File system like the Petit FS- http://elm-chan.org/fsw/ff/00index_p.html be implemented in to the TI99 or Geneve to give more drive space? Not that I'm complaining, 248mb is probably plenty ever for the TI, but I'm more thinking of the Geneve. just thinking outloud....

Right now, there are only two people involved in supporting updates/changes to MDOS that being @InsaneMultitasker and myself.  The last new device that was added to MDOS that pretty much has an infinite amount of filespace, is the TIPI.  @insanemultitasker years past had a fair amount of work with the IDE controller implementation.  Both of those devices had a DSR interface for the TI-99/4A before the Geneve incorporated them into MDOS.  I can also tell you it is well beyond my capabilities to add another device.  I also know any new devices are going to be a bit of a problem as well as the DSR page that holds all the device names has just about run out of memory on that 8K block.

So, what I am saying, someone would likely need to build something for the 4A, develop a 4A DSR, then for it to have sufficient interest among users to warrant any potential Geneve support.  The 4A support is absolutely required for any potential to boot MDOS from the device.  The TIPI, IDE, Myarc HFDC, and SCSI controller cards all require a 4A DSR to load MDOS.

Not trying to rain on the Geneve parade, but with the TIPI, it pretty much has all the filespace I would ever need.  Myself, I think I am just over 1 GB of files on it for my own use with about 120 GB's of additional storage available.
