+therealbountybob Posted October 25, 2023 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Necromancer Long overdue a HSC play Necromancer is this season's Halloween game Download from Fandal XEX or atarionline.pl XEX & ATRs Instructions on atarimania was re-released in 1988 ROM Awesome enchanting classic from Bill Williams - a real tough game but very rewarding to play. Beginners will need to master the controls - Play guide / hints below +2pts for competing the game / after 5th graveyard (I think!) Round Closes Weds November 8th 10am GMT Everyone welcome to join in... Game ON! TRBB'S PLAY GUIDE / HINTS Now guys you all really need to read the instructions on atarimania for this one There are several things that are important and like me if you just play you will miss key info and get a measly score! SCREEN 1 "The Forest" - Plant seeds, guard them, last out till the end. The more trees you end up with, the higher the bonuses: >Level 1 1-4 Trees @ 100pts >Level 2 5-9 Trees @ 300pts >Level 3 10-14 Trees @ 500pts >Level 4 15-19 Trees @ 700pts >Level 5 20+ Trees @ 900pts SCREEN 2 "The Vaults" - HOLD fire to move yourself. RELEASE fire to; stand still / move the wisp to kill spiders / pick up a tree and move it over a hole, then press fire to plant it. You must crush the larvae using the trees and then IMPORTANT: *RETURN THE TREES TO THE TREE BIN (touch them with the wisp) BEFORE GOING DOWN TO THE NEXT DEPTH!* 5 depths 'levels' each with 2 rows of larvae. There is a big bonus for trees remaining when you've completed this! HINTS: crush the flashing larvae first as the spider will hatch from them. Keep yourself near to the tree bin so that you can guard it if (when!) a spider appears - otherwise they will decimate your tree store. Spiders re-appear from the same larvae if you chase them off screen so lure them in for the kill! SCREEN 3 - "Necromancer's Lair" - difficulty is greatly increased by any larvae you left behind & spiders you left roaming! Tread on all the gravestones to complete each round (again hold fire to move, use the wisp to clear a path). HINTS: keep killing the bad wizard guy if you can - really try and motor on this one! Visually it reminds me about some other game we played a few years ago, but I didn't like very much. Try and at least survive the first two levels and get to play the graveyard screen if you've not done so already! The Mr. Video Posted November 6, 2023 Share Posted November 6, 2023 Sure, why not. Didn't feel like dragging out the 1010 and cassette and waiting for the game to load so I ran it off my pico cart. My best score tonight is 41,453 and my highest tree count is 20. Only got to screen 3 once, never did beat the game. Welcome to the HSC "The Mr. Video" A much needed new player We'll dig out some of the others soon as it's that time of year to play some Atari You [everyone] can just collect the items to lower the ladders and go down to get to the graveyard screen - if you are getting low on power just do this. Keep an eye out for the rings to collect too.
