Cartridge slot extension project, to avoid misalignment and possible damage, will this work?

I have some old cartridges which don't have the sprung door, instead they have two long prongs. However, some of this type have one prong missing, so it is not easy to align the cartridge in the slot... possibly causing accidental misalignment and ahem, damage the console, bending a pin in the it’s slot... rendering the console broken. It could happen…

Anyway

My idea to safely use these carts is as follows:

Male connector which sits in the consoles slot permanently (or each time its in use anyway)

Female connector which the cartridge sits in (easier to see how it's being inserted as it would all be in my hands and more visible)

Ribbon cable trimmed to the correct number soldered between

I have sourced the following parts, will they work? Will the male connector be similar enough to a cartridge PCB edge to work?

EBC18MMWD Sullins Connector Solutions | Connectors, Interconnects | DigiKey

EBC18DCWN Sullins Connector Solutions | Connectors, Interconnects | DigiKey

HF365/36SF 3M | Cables, Wires | DigiKey

Has someone already done this to save wear and tear?

Thanks
