Found this random shot on ebay, but I've never seen a pbox with out the front.

amazing enough the cover looks ok. -- normally, that is the part that I seen breaks more often then the front of the box.

But it's probably easy to do an RGB clear cart case.

Hey, maybe a custom RGB keyboard that fits in original spot and frame of the TI99/4a console keyboard, using the same wiring hookup, that would be great project, as you can buy RGB mechanical keyswitches. I wonder if you could de-solder the original switches on the TI keyboard and replace them with RGB ones, then add a microcontroller with a cru base to control them, and change the colors?

True, but would be nice to fit an actual RGB keyboard into the console itself, without anything external, the same layout and frame.

I remember back in the day when Sperry had their keyboard out for their computer and it had LEDs in certain places on the keyboard keys.

You might be able to take something like the  Razor Huntsman mini and do something with it? https://www.razer.com/gaming-keyboards/razer-huntsman-mini

My son has all that rgb stuff all over his room, computer, ram, all over the place....

You know what I got him for Christmas?

I stand up RGB light that sits in the corner of his room...yikes
