+wongojack
PS4 Tetris Effect 120 SMS Super Monaco GP 53 Xbox Series S/X Control 338 I've now wrapped up the 2 main-story DLCs for Control. Meh, they were OK. The whole game flutters right at above average for me, but I did like getting some extra info and references to Alan Wake.

TheGameCollector
This past week I played: Sonic Delta Reloaded (Hack) for Genesis - 117 minutes [I previously logged the game in 2022 using the version number, but you can just simplify it by dropping the version number.] Mario Bros. for NES - 12 minutes Zelda 2024-4 by Jim B. (Hack) for NES - 269 minutes X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse for PC - 713 minutes Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 for PS2 - 121 minutes Progress: Sonic Delta Reloaded - I finally finished off my Sonic & Tails playthrough after not touching the game for 2 years. Esrael has only updated the hack a couple times since the version I was using. The Sonic 3 & Knuckles portion of the game didn't have many changes other than using beta music when it could, so it more closely resembles Sonic Origins Plus' music selections for Sonic 3. Mario Bros - I played until I reached Phase 16. Zelda hack: I completed the rest of the game. X-Men Legends II - I completed the rest of the game using the Beast mod, then played through the whole game using the Polaris mod. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2: I played through Dragon World mode again after not playing this for a long time and unlocked Teen Gohan's Breakthrough capsule.
+jgkspsx
Very arcade heavy week here. Arcade: Bang - 20 min A game that hasn't aged well culturally and doesn't play for crap with a controller. Thankfully only a bonus game on Evercade. Baraduke - 15 min Getting better but the second loop is already incredibly hard. Fancy World: Earth of Crisis - 75 min That ape looks awful familiar... Not the most distinguished Bobbler in the world, but it has a very memorable opening for sure: Kyuukyoku Tiger/Twin Cobra (JP version) - 45 min Reset a lot until I had a good game. Magic Purple - 15 min This is by the same company as Fancy World and it borrows many enemies, music tracks, and sound effects. I think Fancy World is better but Magic Purple is more original. Maniac Square Prototype - 10 min Much, much better than the final game. Night Driver - 12 min Plays pretty well, considering. Outer Zone - 20 min This is not a very good game, I think. I'm not sure yet. Puzzle Bobble 2X - 20 min R-Type - 4 min Tank Force - 10 min The sequel to Battle City, it plays just like Battle City with more powerups. Good fun, on sale on Switch right now with the awesome 4 player mode included! Wardner - 15 min You will RESPECT my AUTHORITAY! Atari Lynx: Hockey - 15 min No improvement in score. I played a mystery game for almost an hour but I'll track it next (?) week to not ruin the surprise: Atari ST: Goldrunner - 25 min First ten minutes was finding a working joystick from the pile lol. As a kid this captivated me but as an adult I see that this is an abject Uridium clone. Still fun but not a patch on Uridium. Absolute banger of a title screen music piece, though. Blaze Evercade: Pong - 10 min Yes, the version on Atari Arcade 1 is a native port. It's really terrible. Don't bother. Commodore 64: Gyroscope - 11 min I have played Marble Madness and you sir are no Marble Madness. Neat game but instant death for falling off a ledge makes it barely playable. Uridium - 75 min Nintendo Entertainment System/Family Computer: Super Arabian - 135 min Nintendo Game Boy Advance: Super Bubble Pop - 10 min Nintendo Switch: Endless Ocean Luminous - 305 min I'm watching online play die in real time, it seems. Last night I only played with six people and they all dropped off in the first half hour. Nintendo Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Alien Cat 2: Enhanced Edition - 135 min Beat the game. Aero the Acrobat - 65 min Sega Game Gear: The Smurfs Travel the World/Die Schlumpfe Reisen um die Welt/Les Schtroumpfs Autour du Monde - 15 min Beautiful game but the usual US Gold platforming jaunt. Sega Genesis: Twin Hawk - 12 min Xenon 2: Megablast - 15 min

It's like a combination of Sindbad's Mystery, Crush Roller, and Zaxxon, and worse than all of the above. (This site says "Pac-Man meets Monument Valley." They can't ALL be winners. However, the existence of Out Zone and Outer Zone predict the existence of Outest Zone, which one supposes would be the first of them. 4

Kurt_Woloch
Here are my times for the past week (May 27th to June 2nd): Browser based: Chooseyourstory.com: El Paso - 15 min. Commodore 64: Captain Starlight - 20 min. Stop the Express - 20 min. Zaga Mission - 3 min. This week I played a bit again for a change. I tried out whether the 1541 floppy for the Commodore 64 still works - it does, and in the process I also played a few games. Stop The Express is basically a kind of arcade game, but with not quite smooth scrolling, where you have to make it to the front of a train to stop it. For the first half of the train, you walk around on the rooftops of the wagons. You have to jump over the gaps between the wagons and duck when knives are thrown at you. But you should not jump when a post comes by or a bird flies by overhead. The second part, the front 10 wagons, play in the wagon where there are rings you can hang on to after having jumped up. And bad guys come towards you, but you can eliminate them by jumping in the air and jumping on them. However, you should avoid the ghosts on the ceiling of the waggons. The whole thing is quite nice and it took me a while to stop the first train. Then I played Zaga Mission by Kingsoft which somehow is based on Zaxxon, but much slower and also unplayable. You control a helicopter that moves very slowly, and already at one of the first obstacles, that is some walls moving up and down, I failed again and again. That's why I only played it for a few minutes. Then I played Captain Starlight. That's actually a relatively primitive game. You could say it's a mixture of Jetpac and Fort Apocalypse. And it takes place in 14 rooms in which you have to fly to the respective exit. In between you can shoot particles flying around that move left and right, and you have to set the right combination to open the exit. And you can also shoot a gas canister to refuel your own jetpac. You fly around in a similar way to Fort Apocalypse, but as an astronaut in a jetpac. This also reminded me of an old song by Frank Zander, which is also called Captain Starlight, but the song is about a space mission that apparently fails because a fire has broken out in the spaceship and the computer starts acting crazy during the song. And the crew now calls the imaginary Captain Starlight and asks "Hey Captain Starlight. Where are we going?" During this game, however, Captain Starlight himself is in the spacesuit and flies around. Then on the website Chooseyourstory.com, I have played the story El Paso which is relatively new. In this story you play a Gunfighter who runs around El Paso and the surrounding area and gets points for winning fights. But this game doesn't have much to do with the song of the same name by Marty Robbins. And Fellina's Cantina from the song doesn't appear in this game either. Yes, on Chooseyourstory.com I'm still at electronically recording my own adventure game "The GrindyAdventure" which I wrote down on paper back in the late 80s, translating it into English and turning it into a useful game. By the way, I have chosen a new method to enter this text. I now speak the text in German into Google Translate and then copy the English translation into this forum... after proofreading it, of course. +GoldLeader
On 3/4/2024 at 6:34 PM, jgkspsx said: Quite an unusual week for me. Yes, I realize I say that every week. Arcade: Navarone - 20 min Sly Spy - 46 min It's got it all: jetpacks, sharks with laser eyes, low-rent substitutes for Jaws and Odd Job, everything! You should try it. Atari Lynx: 2048 - 5 min Captain Harlynx - 20 min Took a few tries but I beat the demo. Pit-Fighter - 110 min I played more of this in the last week than I had in my whole lifetime before. It is not a good game but it is fun and the Lynx port is a remarkable achievement. Scooternia - 30 min Very fun scrolling dodge em up! Browser: Paku Paku - 26 min Commodore 64: Lee - 90 min Beat the game once using save states and then once without, and almost got to the final gauntlet on the much harder second loop. Subterranea - 15 min Fun but exceptionally plain and basic shooter. Winter Games - 12 min Very fun set of events. Winter games were always my favorites among these minigame anthologies. GCE Vectrex: Armor Attack - 10 min Beluga Dreams - 15 min Magnavox Odyssey 2: Alien Invaders - Plus! - 15 min If you don't know this game you don't know what a proud achievement it is to score 3 against the CPU. Microsoft Xbox 360: I blew the dust off and started the engine and everything is still working great for now... 0D Beat Drop - 20 min This is one of the truly exclusive 360 games. It is also just not very good. 1942: Joint Strike - 25 min A very good remake of 1942 by Digital Eclipse. You can get the Capcom Digital Collection disc with tons of great games for $30 or buy them individually for $10-$15 each. I recommend the former. Aces of the Galaxy - 15 min I am surprised at how well this game reviewed because to me it seems deadly boring and the levels just go on and on. Maybe it gets better after the demo? Apple Jack 2 - 35 min Most of which was spent playing this one level over and over again. Asteroids Do Concern Me - 30 min A hilarious SFCave/Helicopter Game knockoff. Another lost XBLIG game. It kills me that more of the successful games of this line haven't been ported to Steam. Beat Hazard - 15 min This fantastic twin stick shooter from the long-dead Xbox Live Indie Games initiative allows you to play all of your favorite music as a shooter. It works very well, not all that differently than E4. Black Knight Sword - 20 min Remember when Microsoft was trying to succeed in Japan? Those were the days. This otherwise undistinguished hack and slash game gets a lot of mileage from that signature Suda51 Grasshopper Manufacture weirdness. It reviewed middlingly at the time but I enjoyed it a lot more than the reviewers did and still do today. I bet it would be better regarded today. Bubble Bobble Neo! - 10 min A fairly undistinguished remake of the original arcade game... except for the level packs stuffed with extra levels. Every Extend Extra Extreme - 75 min Somehow it looks much plainer than the PSP original, but still plays like a dream. One of the very best Xbox 360 games. Mattel Intellivison: Auto Racing - 11 min Steering is a real challenge in this game but I am getting there: Motocross - 10 min I am not good at any of these isometric INTV racers but I am particularly bad at this one. Mountain Madness Pro Skiing - 5 min I really like this game even if it isn't quite as fluid as Activision's Skiing. Reversi - 12 min I was happy with a draw here. Stadium Mud Buggies - 15 min Star Strike - 18 min Beat the game. With save states. I am not ashamed. NEC PC Engine/Turbografx 16: Blazing Lazers - 20 min Still an amazing game. One of the best shooters of its era, along with its siblings Zanac, Gun-Nac, and the Aleste games. Hana Taaka Daka - 20 min The cartridge adapters for my Analogue Pocket came and I am pleased to report the actual game does not suffer from the game pause bug that the PCE core does. Nintendo Entertainment System: Jim Power - 110 min By far the best version of Jim Power. Cheap deaths are still here but in much smaller quantities than on other systems, and combined with infinite continues makes you want to keep playing and playing. Nintendo Switch: Another Code ReCollection - 170 min Got to the end of chapter 2. qrth-phyl - 15 min A game name after my own heart, this is actually just Snake in 3D. qump2 - 35 min A really fun and challenging Pong exploration game. If you ever played the old Titus game Titan, this is probably what they were hoping to make. R-Type Dimensions - 60 min Made it fairly far into R-Type 1. Suika Game - 5 min It supports multiple players now! Tetris 99 - 25 min Hi all, FWIW, This is a fun thread to lurk on from time to time. Myself, I have no time/energy to track what I do videogamewise (Wow! Is that a word?) and I don't want to risk turning pleasure into "work". Anyway... I like the random energy of the Universe! Plus, I was thinking how I never have much time to play video games,...Or maybe I get caught up in other things and don't make the time. Well today I thought I'd randomly check out what some of my favorite AtariAgers were playing on (lessee...) March 4th, 2024. It looks like jgkspsx played more in one week than I do in 2 years! So based on his recommendation, Today if I have the beer and the time I will play some SLY SPY on EVERCADE! Thanks JGKSPSX for the random recommendation you had no idea I would pick up on some 3 months later! 4

TheGameCollector
This past week I played: Alien Invasion for Fairchild Channel F - 39 minutes Big Nose the Caveman for NES - 39 minutes Donkey Kong for NES - 13 minutes Donkey Kong Jr. for NES - 13 minutes Donkey Kong 3 for NES - 22 minutes Galaga for NES - 12 minutes Ice Hockey for NES - 13 minutes Mickey Mousecapade for NES - 18 minutes Pac-Man for NES - 8 minutes Renegade for NES - 19 minutes R.C. Pro-Am for NES - 24 minutes Super Mario Bros. for NES - 25 minutes Super Mario Bros.: Level-Headed for NES - 257 minutes Tetris for NES - 9 minutes Yo! Noid for NES - 35 minutes Zelda Randomizer for NES - 134 minutes X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse for PC - 85 minutes Bomberman for TurboGrafx-16 - 152 minutes Overlord for Xbox 360 - 309 minutes Progress: Alien Invasion - I randomly rolled this game using a random number generator to choose games from options I liked. I emulated it. I tried every 1 player mode. I have to say it's not a bad Space Invaders clone at all. NES games: I randomly rolled my choices for the night and completed Big Nose the Caveman, 1 round of Ice Hockey, Mickey Mousecapade, Renegade (difficulty 1, twice), Super Mario Bros. and Yo Noid! I made it to Round 48 of Donkey Kong 3 (my best in years) and round 20 of Galaga (my best ever for the NES version). Super Mario Bros Level-Headed: I completed the last 12 games of my 3rd generated set with original graphics/normal difficulty and my first 2 games from my 4th set (Mario, basic graphics/sound hacking, normal difficulty) Zelda Randomizer: I completed the first game from my 3rd set (randomized dungeons only). X-Men Legends II: I completed the first chapter using MarvelMods member Enigma's Havok mod as my lead character with his mods for Polaris, Beast and Angel I previously used as support. Bomberman: I randomly rolled the USA version of Bomberman when using a random number generator to choose a game I might like, via emulation. I ended up playing this through to the end, using savestates if I had to (especially at the final boss). Overlord: I randomly rolled to play a physical Xbox 360 game from my shelf. I chose 20 that looked interesting and rolled Overlord. I never tried it before. It is strange and funny but once you get used to it, it makes you want to keep making progress. I'll have to work on it more soon.
