+wongojack
Another week with a single game with triple digit time C64 Blue Max 277 I've been trying to accomplish 2 things here. 1) Figure out the conditions when the game crashes when played in NTSC 2) Win on "Expert" difficulty I've gotten a pretty stable repro for #1, and I came very close to #2 last night. Should only need a few more runs to finish up. Wrote a blog entry on this here (haven't done one of those in years): Blue Max for C64 crashing - wongojack's Blog - AtariAge Forums
CapitanClassic
Oct 7-13: just a small amount of gaming. Android: RB College - 6 min. Retro Bowl - 6 min. Finished up the no star player season of RB College. Since I had 1-2 losing seasons in a row, there were no offers from other colleges. Decided to switch over to regular Retro Bowl. Just finished up the first game, and fast forwarded to the NFL Draft.
Skippy B. Coyote
Big week for gaming for me this week! I put my new RG556 to good use doing a full playthrough of the original Fatal Frame for the PS2, which I just finished last night, and played quite a bit of Star Fox Adventures for the GameCube too! I really love the comfy ergonomics on this thing, and the big bright 5.5" 1080p AMOLED screen is just gorgeous! Having enough power under the hood to run GameCube and PS2 games well is a really nice bonus too GameCube Star Fox Adventures - 257 minutes PlayStation 2 Fatal Frame - 1,087 minutes
+jgkspsx
Got my new Atari Super Pocket from the Evercade folks! Testing that out, playtesting Microvaders, and getting ready for the next season of the Lynx High Score Club dominated my gaming for this week. Apple iOS: Tomb of the Mask - 25 min Arcade: Centipede - 6 min Crystal Castles - 5 min Liquid Kids - 70 min Lost Tomb - 10 min Missile Command - 5 min Mizbak's Adventure - 20 min (could group with Liquid Kids) Night Driver - 10 min Atari 2600: Aquaventure - 10 min Save Mary - 15 min Yars' Revenge - 10 min Atari 5200: Miner 2049er - 10 min Atari Lynx: Checkered Flag - 5 min Dirty Larry Renegade Cop - 7 min Fruit'y - 20 min Geoduel - 10 min Kung Food - 20 min Microvaders - 220 min Ninja Nerd - 15 min Odynexus - 40 min Robo-Squash - 20 min Blaze Evercade/Super Pocket: Pong (2024 version) - 15 min The version included on the Atari Arcade Collection 1 cartridge was an atrocity. This has been remade from the ground up and plays a lot better, if not faithfully to the arcade. Who knew a good pong was so hard to make? Commodore 64: Cyberdyne Warrior - 5 min Heavy Metal Paradroid - 10 min Netherworld - 65 min NEC TurboGrafx 16: Soldier Blade - 5 min Nintendo Entertainment System: Super Pinball - 15 min Nintendo Game Boy Color: Racin' Ratz - 20 min Tarzan - 15 min Nintendo Game Boy Advance: IK+ - 20 min Nintendo Switch: A Little to The Left - 20 min Nintendo World Championships - 105 min Super Impulse TinyArcade/MicroArcade: MicroArcade Centipede - 7 min MicroArcade Pong - 5 min Sony PlayStation Vita: Ys VIII: Lacrymosa of DANA - 15 min You never want to be on a ship with this guy, I tell ya. And I know, because I was born on a pirate ship with Adol. I have no recollection what game this is, haha. Anybody recognize it?

+wongojack
On 6/30/2024 at 5:16 PM, Kurt_Woloch said: Here are my times for this past week (June 24th through 30th)... OK, this time it gets a bit messy. I did "play" some games, but it's hard to classify them. You see, there's a relatively new website called Websim.ai which creates web pages on the fly through AI prompts. This web sites are usually rather simple because the AI can only generate so much code at once... the maximum size of each page is about 11-12 kBytes. You just give it a URL that looks a recognizable topic, software or... a game. And it recognizes many of the well-known classic games, but since it's limited in what it can create, especially more advanced games usually devolve in greatly simplified, barebones versions. Still I tried to let it generate many of the classic games, some of which turned out to be unplayable or at least unrecognizable. Since they were all so simple, I only spent a few minutes with each "game" created. Here are the rough sums... Lunar Lander, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Galaxian, Galaga, Dig Dug, Scramble, Moon Patrol, Zaxxon, Time Pilot, Gyruss... 31 minutes in total Monaco Grand Prix, Pole Position, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Green Beret, OutRun, Marble Madness, Frogger, Popeye, Berzerk, Missile Command, Pooyan... 17 minutes in total Tetris, Klax, Centipede, Millipede, Amidar, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Mario Bros., Enduro Racer, OutRun... 22 minutes in total M76 Joe Talker V9.1.htm 9.4 kB · 0 downloads Can you share some of the prompts you used with Websim to generate playable games. I gave it a shot and did manage to make a Space Invaders game in like 5 prompts. Pretty neat.

Kurt_Woloch
Here are my times for this past week (October 14th through 20th, 2024): TI-99/4A: Q*bert - 99 min. in 7 sessions This week I revisited the "Q*bert" game on the TI-99/4A. Somehow, I now got the hang on the fault that on the start of each level, Coily comes down immediately, so I wait for her to pass by before I decend from the top of the pyramid. This helped me boost my scores massively. On one particular good game, I collected up to 8 extra lives, but then, in Level 5, I got into a situation with the remaining cubes which wasn't easily solvable, and lost all of my lives. Contrary to "Frogger", this one is playable over only the keyboard. Edited Sunday at 09:26 PM by Kurt_Woloch

CapitanClassic Posted yesterday at 04:09 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:09 AM Oct 14-20: I got a decent amount of gaming in this week. In the coming weeks though it will likely be mostly 2600 HSC All games emulated, except Android Android Retro Bowl - 15 min Soccer Stars - 15 min Got a couple games of RB in for my starting season. Don't have a good QB, but was able to pickup a 4.5 star RB and TE. Haven't hit max dynamic difficulty, so most games have been a breeze. NES / Famicom (emu) Castlevania - 30 min: rewound my way to Dracula. I probably should get good at beating this game like Contra, but a lot of the muscle memory is gone Also the birds that drop the hunch backs are very annoying in the clocktower. Pico-8 Ascent - 14 min Solais - 5 min Ascent was a fun little 1/4 size Pico-8 game (only 64x64 pixels). It is amazing how much can be done with so few pixels. PSX - (emu) Battle Arena Toshinden - 20 min Strider - 14 min My muscle memory for Strider is bad too. Although I really played the Genesis version, it plays almost identically to the Arcade. Played a few rounds of BAT, but didn't remember hardly any of the moves. Also, the Legends Flashback 6-button Genesis pad isn't optimal for this game Sega Genesis -(emu) Beyond Oasis - 38 min I have a copy of this game with a bad battery, so I never really played far into it. I know Crusader of Centy gets called Sega's LoZ:aLttP, but I can see this one being a decent take on the genre. I think I might enjoy it, like Alunda [PSX] Sega 32x - (Emu) Space Harrier - 11 min The 32x version feels very close to the arcade. I used to love playing this.
