Machine Posted February 9 Author Share Posted February 9 I built some Rotary controllers over the last few days and used this game to test them. I was surprised by the results. I was able to score between 20k-23k with all of them. I never had a "low" score with the rotary. I always seemed to get 20K without too much trouble. Using a regular controller, my scores seemed to be all over the place. 18.5K to 23K is the norm. I seem to miss the 20k score much more often with a regular controller. +grips03 Posted February 16 Share Posted February 16 Hints for better score: If ship is clear of rocks on new level, press B for ship to appear on screen faster vs. waiting Use smaller CRT, CRTs have no lag and big TV makes your eyes need to move more and slows down your reaction Only ever get/use double power shot from level 3 and 4. Don't try to shoot from far away, it takes too much time, unless you have double power shot. Best score obtained with reproduction Pro controller due to smooth d-pad, but had good results with the stock gray keypad controller. Don't play game with black keypad button controller as that does not turn well due to crappy d-pad. Arcade type controller is ok, but it oversteers and you have to correct back. Use Jag that plays @ 60Hz There is an angle the rocks move into the shot, make sure to use this to destroy all the smaller rocks as fast as possible.
