AaronBre
We got our 1024 ST at a shop called Butler's computers in Federal Way, Washington in the late 1980's. it is hooked up to a hard drive box and it fails to boot now. Disconnecting the hard drive box does not help.
Zogging Hell
There are probably a number of things you can try yourself before sending it off, especially if you aren't afraid of opening it up. Firstly what monitor is it connected to (modern, old?), secondly an ST can take up to 30 secs to boot, so are you getting a white screen when switching on? When you press the keys do you get any noise from the monitor speaker? Any other symptoms (do the power lights come on for example?) The hard drive is quite probably dead at this point, but probably worth a try if you can get the ST going again.
oracle_jedi
Can you be a little more descriptive of the issue? Does the unit power on? Do you get anything on the screen? Is the display all-white, all-black, garbage? Does it try to boot the internal floppy? Edited March 4 by oracle_jedi
mattsoft
If you're in the Seattle area, you can bring it to a Seattle Retro Computing Society or Seattle Commodore Computer Club meeting and there will be people there that can help troubleshoot. Just google those two clubs to find out meeting schedules.
