Only had my first session but after spending ages replaying to figure out that you cannot get out from the bottom left corner of level 5 only to realise that you don't need to get the hearts to do the levels found that it's not too bad at all. Often there is another way to tackle the levels which is easier and the invincibility thing seem to be used liberally. Pressing [Option] on the title screen shows what is what. Will update the first post

You can get out of the bottom left of level 5 on Rockman. You have to jump from really close to the spike on the way out

I tried and tried but getting the diagonals right on my joystick is not 100% so I'm missing that bit. Played again and reached level 14 a couple of times, baddies spawning in your way can be a bit frustrating

Rockman: Complete Game (36 Levels).  Ending and high score tables shown.  Apparently eating lots of fruit is not a healthy thing to do. 

 

Fun little game with some touchy jump mechanics and unbalanced level sequencing.  Level 18 is probably the toughest stage, with the second half having mostly softballs for people who get that far.  I think there were only a couple of tricky spots after that.

I'm AFA (away from Atari) again AFAA?! Now I know that there are only 36 levels I'll take another crack at this when I'm back. Might want to start up the next round later today so if anyone has not voted please break the tie... the two leading games are big enough to be played on their own, otherwise I'll pick one of them

Strange that this game only uses 5 digits for the scoreboard and also doesn't really have any indicators to show what level you're on.  FWIW, here's the pic:
