Couple of questions about Thunderfox

Recommended Posts

I’m thinking of picking up a copy of Thunderfox but I have a couple questions about the game. There are very few videos of people playing it online and in many of them the players doesn’t even complete the first level because they have not read the manual.

1. How many “levels” are there? I know the layout of the 3 sub stages does not change but from what I have seen level 2 does have different enemies and color than level 1.

2. How much does the difficulty increase between levels?

IMHO there are some far more rewarding scrolling shoo em ups.

Zybex

The last squadron

The last guardian

Hawkquest

And of course Atariblast!

I owed a boxed cart version of thunderfox, but just couldn't get into it.

Zybex, Atariblast and the last squadron are must plays. :)

How well do those play on an NTSC machine? I have an XEGS so a 65XE.

The last squadron is a game that came out in the last couple of years and detects whether ntsc or pal, and will run on a 64k machine.

Zybex runs OK on ntsc afaik and will run on 64k too.

The last guardian will run on 64k but unsure if a pal specific game or not.

Not sure about Hawkquest

Atariblast is a 1mb game but if burnt to an Atari max maxflash 8mbit (1mb) cart, or played from a side3 or avg multi cart, it will run on. Stock 64k machine. Not sure whether it will work on an ntsc machine.
